This weekend the Twitters were all abuzz with #verzuz: “Gladys Knight V. Patti LaBelle” and apparently a fair amount of people got schooled on the fact that Michael McDonald was 1) A Doobie Brother and 2) there’s a story Ms. Patti would not share on the air about him…

(Dying to know what that was, if I’m honest!)

While I’m not 100% sure where I’m going with this, I know you guys will come through with your best yacht rock or Patti or Gladys…

  1. Mmmm that low-hanging fruit is delicious.  Hues Corporation Don’t Rock The Boat:

     

    • If you haven’t seen the series “Derry Girls” you must. There’s an episode where everyone’s at a wedding and all action comes to a halt when the DJ plays “Rock The Boat.” EVERYONE sits on the dance floor in lines and does this choreographed rowing, seated line dance.
       
      The thing is, a few (maybe more than a few) years ago I was at a big party among Brits and they did it, so the creators weren’t making this up.
       
      I’m too exhausted to find this but it might be on YouTube.

  10. …hold on…I count two claims to picking up low hanging fruit but I see neither Enya’s Orinoco Flow nor Duran Duran’s Rio…not even Rod Stewart’s Sailing out here…so I’m all sorts of confused
