It is that time of the year again when all the scary movies get dragged out. It got me thinking about all the horrible (in a good way) B movies I watched in the 70’s and 80’s. Here is a sample for your viewing displeasure.
The Thing With Two Heads. Starring Rosie Grier.
Empire of the Ants
House
And one of my favorites – Waxwork
So what do you got my fellow creatures of the evening?
I adore the original Scooby Doo:
never gets old
There was so much great horror in the 70s and 80s. A lot of it from the late, great George Romero.
Martin – 1977
Dawn of the Dead – 1978
Day of the dead – 1985
This movie scared the crap out of me as a kid. So bad it was good.
This may be Wes Craven’s best movie…
I remember very clearly a Count Floyd skit on SCTV, and as always he had a completely non-scary movie he was stuck trying to sell to the kids. On this particular one it was…
He was stuck telling the kids how Anne Bancroft might not seem so scary, but when they got older they’d understand. Of course, when you get older you realize Ben is the real monster of that movie.
Here is SCTV’s Count Floyd presenting Dr. Tongue’s 3D House of Cats
Irwin Allen’s “The Swarm.”
Like all Irwin Allen movies, this one features an all-star cast, but by 1978 ole IA’s magic was starting to wear off. This movie gets a 9% on Rotten Tomatoes, but it is one of my favorites.

Let me guess — Ali McGraw and Michael Caine?
(Looks it up)
Ahh, Katherine Ross and Michael Caine. I haven’t seen her whole portfolio, but she was adorable in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, more than what I remember of Ali McGraw.
Ross was also terrific in the original “Stepford Wives” (1975)
I love stupid but not horror. So spoofs? Like Ed Begley Jr. in “Amazon Women on the Moon”.
