Deadsplinter Up! All Night: Season of Lights

When I Consider How My Light is Spent

The past few days, I’ve been putting lights on our house, even though our closest neighbor is 3/4 of a mile away and the only people who are going to see it are the Amazon delivery guy and some donkeys. My wife says Santa Claus will see it and will thus know to come here on Christmas, but I’m something of a Santa skeptic. He’s fucked me over before.

Anyway, I did my Clark Griswold routine despite my bum (but recovering) knee and the fact that I hate going up ladders and messing with electricity. It does look nice and all and last night when I went out to take it all in I started to feel a little bit of Christmas Spirit despite also being a Christmas Spirit skeptic.

But I do like the idea of light and a light in the world and it does look kind of nice and all. So I guess I’m all in with this Xmas shit now, like it or not. I still won’t countenance any Christmas music until the solstice, though.
