I was listening to Johnny Horton’s ‘Sink the Bismarck’ the other day (which @ManchuCandidate posted to DUAN last week) when I discovered two other familiar characters have covered the song: John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd!
Belushi’s and Aykroyd’s cover was supposed to be used on ‘Bob’s Country Bunker’ scene (beginning and end of the scene) but it was cut out. Maybe Bob should book the Rolling Stones next week:
I hope the Stones have their Union cards with them!
Thank you for your continued support of DeadSplinter!
Omar Torrez – Sink the Ships
Well then…this is a beautiful and poignant song about young men lost at sea. It can be a palette cleanser perhaps…
Jonas Alaska, October:
Nice!
This is my favorite ship song. I was saving it for a nautical theme, I guess tonight sort of counts
Jim McGrath and the Reprobates – The Old Black Pearl
yes. it’s pretty great. I’m trying to find out more about it but nothing sofar. do you have anything?
I think Jim McGrath is from New England. But I don’t know much about him either. He has another good song called Whiskey Johnny.

that’s odd. ‘Sink To The Bottom’ went up to #7 in Norway. no other FoW song charted in Norway. not even ‘Stacy’s Mom’. something is rotten in the state of Norway!

for listening to my ramblings. here’s a live performance of ‘Stacy’s Mom’:
Woo a mention!
My musical tastes are pretty conventional most of the time, but once in a while I’ll throw an odd one in.
I had no idea at all there was a cover by belushi and aykroyd or that it was supposed to be in the film! ain’t DUAN great?
Wooden Ships
Ship Ahoy — The O’Jays
Viet Cong – Bunker Buster
This is really cool. I was torn between the ship thing and the bunker thing.
This was my first thought. That whole album is killer.
What kind of music do you usually have here?
Oh, we got both kinds. We got Country AND Western!
Stuart Hamm – Country Music (A Night in Hell)
Country Air
The Beach Boys
Drive-By Truckers – Sink Hole
