DeadSplinter Up! All Night: So Long And Good Night

One of the biggest bands of my youth, My Chemical Romance, announced a much awaited reunion tour this week. I could be an elitist scene kid in high school and refused to be fan, though I did like this song from their major label debut, Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge. It wasn’t until they released their last album Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys did I learn to better appreciate their music and grew out of that “music critic” phase. I loved the Danger Days album and listened to it regularly. If you enjoy concept albums with infectious lyrics and then I suggest checking out Danger Days. Thank you for your continued support of DeadSplinter.

  1. The Blasters – So Long Baby, Goodbye

    • LOVE The Blasters!

  2. I nearly cut myself from looking at all the edginess in that photo.

  3. Last night Jonee posted The Allman Brother’s “One Way Out”, so I thought it would be appropriate to post a cover by sisters Rebecca and Megan Lovell, who are nicknamed “The Little Sisters of the Allman Brothers.”

Their band is called Larkin Poe, as the sisters are distant relatives of Edgar Allan Poe, and as you can see, they like to rock!

  4. reunion tours….hmmm
hey did anyone mention the petshop boys released a new song?

its not really my thing…but hey why not

    • Speaking of reunion tours,
      This about fits my mood lately;

        • Wow.
          Just Wow.
And after this damn week, and all the fuckery going on everywhere, yeah. That’s EXACTLY how I’m feeling–not at ALL ready to make nice or back down.🤬🤬🤬

  5. Duan has me looking through old stuff. Here is a good song from 1999, Antennae’s Wife, by Aaron Sprinkle. He was a crossover Christian artist. My son was 13, and into bands like Alkaline Trio. Not sure why he merged into Aaron Sprinkle, but this a darn good song.

    • and a surf one…

      • Those were great. But we can’t have enough ‘Paint It Black’ covers! So,

        by Spinning Jenny:

        by Echo & The Bunnymen:

        by Valerie Broussard:

        by Corinna Jane:

    • guess ill add one too

    • oh wait…actually…i had one more

  6. John Prine – Lake Marie
This is his show closer, a great example of JP’s storytelling, and includes his now famous hillbilly shuffle dance.
Aah baby, we gotta go now.

  7. So Long Sad Sack – The Dayaks

    • And very sad to hear about Andy Gill. Gang of Four were huge and it’s a shame they’re not more of a household name any more.

  8. On usually at this time (Sat Night at 7pm). It was about the only thing to watch in the era of two TV channels before Hockey Night In Canada came on.

    • Those guys played Woodstock.

    • When I was just a Wee Em, that was on one of our *three* channels, and the 2-3 year old me ended up with a HUGE crush on Bowzer–i thought he was *just dreeeeamy*😉😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

ETA, I DO still love his singing voice, though😉
