Yes, I’m taking the easy way out TWO weeks in a row. Last week it was the Oscars, this week the Grammys…
Past faves? Anyone you think got snubbed? Whatcha got for me Deadsplinters?
And, as always, thanks for your continued support of Deadsplinter and DUAN!
As someone who knows first hand what a sham the Grammys are, I don’t bother to watch them. Plus, I listen to shit like this which will never get a Grammy.
I can’t remember ever watching the Grammy’s – so here is Thelonious Monk instead.
From the first Grammy Awards, 1959. Best R & B winner
Dinah Washington – What a Difference a Day Makes
From two groups who had some of the stranger Grammy wins.
A Grammy Snub.
God she was so good.
The Jimmy Sturr Orchestra has won 18 Grammys in the polka category, and deserved every one. I saw them at a street fest in Chicago off Milwaukee Ave near the Copernicus Center and they rocked so hard. They had the inked & pierced hipster crowd working up a serious sweat. That was some serious party, let me tell you.
I didn’t watch the Grammy’s last night but I wish I would have seen The Osborn Brothers win both their Grammy Awards. It felt monumental to see a gay country singer win an award for his song “Younger Me” – written about growing up different and released after coming out.
My heart hurts thinking about him hiding who he was for so long. It’s beautiful to see him able to openly be who he is and now win an award proudly out as a gay man.
I’m happy for him too.
Country and Rap with openly gay acts performing and winning awards at the Grammys just prove how out of touch the GOP and their ridiculous Don’t Say Gay bullshit are.
The Brothers Osborne are local to MD and have a huge fan base here. Happy to see them doing so well.
Grammy for best contemporary classical in 2015, Become Ocean.
Got nothing for the Grammys.
Sofia Portanet – Real Face
Prince was famously screwed over by the Grammys. I mean, he won a few, but they were minor league Grammys that everyone wins. I think my great great great grandmother won Grammy in the same category as Prince, and she died in the old country before the invention of the phonograph.
At any rate, this is not one of Prince’s “Grammy” award songs, but an article and video about 11 year old Prince speaking out in support of striking teachers. Even at 11, he was on the right side.
