Happy Sunday Evening everyone! What are your favorite show theme songs? I can’t stop humming the Only Murders in the Building theme.
I really like the Succession theme too- fits the feel of the show perfectly.
From my youth –
I love both both themes from Space: 1999.
Hope everyone had a great weekend!
oh fuck….i just remembered
cowboy bebop
and samurai champloo
are hard to beat
Are any of you old enough to remember when the theme songs to popular shows were packaged and sold as 45s? I remember the “Happy Days” theme song was popular, and “Laverne and Shirley.” My sister had this one:
Only in reading the credits for this video did I realize that it is sung by Maureen McGovern, who did the theme song for not one but two Irwin Allen smash-hit disaster movies: “The Poseidon Adventure”/”Morning After” and “The Towering Inferno”/”We May Never Love Like This Again.”
I loved this show, but apparently it was less smash hit and more disaster, since it only lasted a little over a year.
Nothing matches up to the days when theme songs were written for, and performed by, whole bands or orchestras. Case in point: Sanford and Son
Fun fact: this was written by Quincy Jones.
Amen, brother:
I have an older friend that told me stories about when Quincy was head of the Seattle jazz society & he would show up as a kid for their meetings & was the only white guy. He said Quincy & everyone was super nice & welcoming to him.
I love these jazzy numbers for espionage related things.
Till the 90s, movies and TV shows had great themes.
With the exception of HBO’s Game of Thrones.
Theme from Love Story. Henry Mancini.
One favorite:
Always liked this one:
A great show that ended far too soon.
This version of the Get Smart theme kills me.
REM did an opening theme.
