Deadsplinter Up! All Night: This is our Science

It’s a good thing to be open-minded. To accept that everyone has beliefs, most of which are shared by at least some others.

Unfortunately, in today’s “political” climate, “beliefs” are vastly overrated – to the point that some believe them to have the property of being intrinsically true.

Few things are intrinsically true at the best of times but if science has taught us anything it’s that even objective reality grades on a curve. Science isn’t about being right or wrong – it’s a matter of understanding.

    • …no distrespect intended…but where coldplay are concerned I’m kind of a conscientious objector

…arguably a couple of reasons but the less doxy end of them would have a lot to do with being honestly hard-pressed to tell one of their songs from another?

      • Coldplay may be one of those bands you can love to hate, but really isn’t DUAN about expression and theme? I’d fight you on that alone, no disrespect, man.

        • …no need to fight me…pretty sure I’d be on the same side as far as that goes

…just…couldn’t hit the star & didn’t want to seem like there was any reason but the coldplay thing…which is kind of a me-problem rather than a problem-problem?

          • Last night I posted, “Pink Bullets” from the Shins. One lyric is, “Since then it’s been a book you read in reverse or a movie so crass and awkwardly cast that even I could be the star”.
The Scientist video has the same theme and did so well, despite being Coldplay.
Not all music is for everyone………. If it doesn’t speak to you – there’s something else that does.

              • I forgot what song, it wasn’t a good one, but there was a line where he had to go somewhere to “meet my asshole brother”. One of those lines so relatable, no disrespect to your sibling, unless he’s Trump et al.

                • …nothing like that…more by way of “yes, I know everyone is entitled to their own tastes & lots of people claim to enjoy listening to this stuff but if you play that damn tape in this damn car one more time I will not be held responsible for my actions”

…sometimes I swear extended car rides with family might contravene the geneva convention…it certainly felt like cruel & unusual punishment at the very least

    • That song intregued me enough that I Googled him; he is still alive in NYC at age 92. He was ahead of his time, if this little ditty from 1959 is a reflection of his work:

      • …I once attended a funeral for an old school sci-fi afficianado which played the mourners out with the elements song

…confused one or two people…some because they didn’t know the number in question…& some who wondered why he hadn’t gone for this one?
