Woohoo! My first DUAN! Since my beloved iPod is on the fritz – I’ve had to resort to other methods of listening to music. I’ve been finding myself using Youtube a lot just for this purpose. You can find almost anything on it and lately the YT algorithm has been serving up some really good acoustic versions of some of my faves.
Dido – Smalltown Boy
Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora – this should just be titled Being Awesome
Lee Gray – Gimme Shelter/Rollin in the Deep
So, Deadsplinter friends – what are some cool acoustic versions of songs you love? And as always – thanks for your support of Deadsplinter.
Buddy Guy made an entire acoustic album many moons ago, called Blues Singer. It is a must-have for anyone who appreciates music. His version of I Live the Life I Love is one of the best I’ve heard.
Seconded. This is such an amazing album.
Also, just because I can’t help myself. That is a Neumann microphone in the cover illustration. You can tell by the shape of the screen. It is a tube (as opposed to solid state) mic–you can tell by the size of the connector. I’m going to guess it’s a U47 model.
I love this version.
Really like the Smalltown Boy cover, @Lymond.
Greg Dulli – Modern Love
Also, I kinda love loop pedals. They let one musician create a really full soundscape. In the vein of the Give Me Shelter vid, PLUS beatboxing, I really like this cover.
THePETEBOX Future Loops – Where Is My Mind?
*Gimme Shelter, for chrissakes spellcheck.
Yeah – I don’t know if they’re really considered acoustic, but they really add a lot of oomph? umph?
I love this song and this is a great cover – it’s so different but still really good.
Jet
I had to check the title because I thought it was a guitar cover of Radar Love.
And my twofer from Jimi
I think Jimi is my absolute favorite musician
First, of many, I hope, well done @Lymond!
Love it! I love him with the Brodsky Quartet on The Juliet Letters
Hi @Lymond City of the Sun, Young Folks
Lovely, sounds like it could be an instrumental bridge on an early U2 album.
Oops, forgot it was Tuesday.
Eurythmics – Here Comes the Rain Again
God her voice is so beautiful – I like this version better than the original.
My favorite unplugged album of all time is Townes Van Zandt Live at the Old Quarter, Houston, Texas
I love acoustic versions of songs – it makes them so much more personal and raw.
I’m not sure this counts as unplugged but it is unplugged-ish and I love it so I’m posting it. Cover of the original Beach Boys song which totally changed the way I hear the song.
Lol I forgot the link.
I say it counts and is amazing.
That’s really beautiful.
Instead of DUAN, this is DOAN (Open All Night)
I think I like Brian’s version better than Bruce’s.
She has an amazing cover of “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road,” but her cover of “Chandelier” by Sia is my favorite because of all the vocal control and way she works the notes and makes it acoustic.
:p
thanks for taking over for the time being
off to a good start 🙂
Ahhh, remember the halcyon days of MTV Unplugged?
10,000 Maniacs, “Because The Night”
