Oh my goodness, what a storm has hit this place! Branches blowing everywhere, five inches of rain with no sign of stopping before sometime tomorrow. Ice and sleet. I heard on the HAM radio (!) that Big Stony Creek has overflowed. My best-laid plans for this Wednesday’s DUAN have been blown away and as soon as I finish this mug of coffee I’ll be out in the elements, trying to waterproof the sheep and tying the donkeys down so they don’t blow away. I’m hearing of power outages over the hill, so I’ll probably go dark before long. I’ll see you on the other side.
We are having light rain now with snow possibly coming…
but the last few nights we have had some Big Old Wind!

Oh no! Tie down those donkeys. But a flying donkey would be interesting to see, as long as it could land safely and unhurt.

How does one waterproof a sheep? Do you Simonize them?

Boy, you city folk are gullible.
One of my coworkers has a farm in Vermont where she has rescues, wild mustangs, whom she trains for adoption. Better than the mustang shoots when they get too prevalent in the west. One of her outbuildings, a run-in shelter, attached by mobile home anchors, literally did a Wizard of Oz, flew through air, and smashed up her electric fence. All horses and people are safe, but sustained 70 mph gusts are no joke. We’re adding “act of God” paid leave to the employee handbook.
