Yam Yam is a blend of jazz, jam, funk and soul. A very talented group of musicians from Harrisburg, PA., they are great music to groove and keep you on a positive vibe.
It’s kind of a build your own theme night folks, you can post potato based music, fruits and veggies, random jazz/soul/funk or whatever your heart wants. Have a great night!
I feel like I’ve posted a lot of Pokey lately but this fits so…
Pokey LaFarge – Sweet Potato Blues
Gotta get a piece
Cracker – Sweet Potato
The only problem with this excellent mash-up of “Sweet Potato” is that Wednesday is doing a kind of modified “Watusi.”
I don’t what that above video is, whether it’s meant sincerely or it’s a parody clip or what, but that is The Mashed Potato.
This is always the song that autoplays after the Big Dipper song you posted a while back which I listen to frequently.
@myopicprophet That is hilarious. Mine usually feeds into this fantastic live version of “One Fine Day”. Maybe you’ll like it, too.
Idaho is famous for its potatoes:
Let me make an unasked for cultural comment here because I’m so bored. What the B-52s were parodying/paying homage to in 1980 was something that would have seemed perfectly normal just 15 years earlier, in 1965.
In the mid-70s I remember being in elementary school and seeing a film about the mid-1960s and we all laughed at the suits and skinny ties and short hair on the men, everyone wearing large (or cat’s-eye) glasses, the women in “Mad Men” appropriate dresses. That was only ten years behind us. The transition from 1965 to 1975 was a really rapid whipsaw.
Do young people now laugh at what 2011 looked like? I don’t think so. I have my own bêtes noires, the cronut and avocado toast among them, but if I were sent back to 2011 I don’t think I’d notice and I doubt most ten-year-olds would. Except no one would be wearing masks, but depending on where you live no one does anyway.
Also, the women’s hairstyles. I’m sure they were fans of John Waters movies.
Fake Fruit – No Mutuals
*adds to playlist*…hmm..list is getting bigly
She should learn how to handle that pistol properly. There is a reason they teach you to use both hands. It’s called “recoil.”
Sweet Cherry Wine ( fruit was an option, right?)
