To be clear, I always thought it was a super weird song. But I love Waylon Jennings and I find the pre-Outlaw Waylon hilarious.

The movie they keep cutting to was the flop “Hiding Out,” starring a very young Jon Cryer. This is from the soundtrack.
I’ve rocked this track a handful of times this very year. I only heard it an equal handful back in the day, but I’ve never forgotten it.
