Hi friends!
It turns out it’s a bad idea for me to mix 3 different allergy medicines in the same day. I mean, my sinuses were clear and I was breathing great, but also had a racing heart lying in bed last night. Like 20-25 beats per min above normal bedtime heartrate. Ahh fitbit, thank you for helping me to feel less like a hypochondriac last night.
So, that’s my deep thought of the week.
Also, today was fun because we had a massive IT issue because some team didn’t realize their data migration (which they didn’t tell us about) would fuck up a bunch of servers. GOOD TIMES!
Data migration is the worst. Take the estimated time of completion, and multiply by 5. And any server touched will be adversely affected.
Also this is why we mess with prod stuff at night!!!!
Yikes, I hope you were able to find a different allergy cocktail today. Most medications make my heart race so I pretty much stick to saline spray. And it sounds like you had a very Mondayish Monday.
@Brightersideoflife, I have zero deep thoughts, concur re data migration. Also code pushes, and the arcane art of interlinking a commerce site, PayPal, a bank, QuickBooks, and a Drupal site. I generally stir up some mugwort and hyssop, and maybe some poppy milk and a smidgen of belladonna in my cauldron to add to the spell casting when we have to update pricing or add products…Hope that you are feeling better soon.
Here’s my budget allergy regiment. A few weeks before allergy season I start doing 2 sprays I each nostril of allerflow, & 1 pill of allerclear. Both are generic versions of something like Allegra & claretin. If I skip it or don’t start before symptoms, I’m fucked. Everyone is different but if your allergist recipe is not working, worth a shot. *disclaimer: Mrs Loveshaq ARNP had no part in this medical advice & this is strictly her barely literate husband’s idea of medical cocktails not including beer.
Those are Costco generics, may be called something else at other stores.
I had kind of a stressful afternoon, though over ultimately silly things. This afternoon, one of my mobile games wouldn’t load, and I assumed server issues until I realized my phone was having a lot of other problems too. Couldn’t load email, Amazon, multiple apps… And after a bunch of attempted troubleshooting with my husband, who is a tech guy and finds this stuff way less stressful than me, we finally resorted to a factory reset. Dog bless the pixel, everything came back up in mostly the same state I left it, though I’m slogging through re-logging into everything and tweaking the settings that reverted. I find phone stuff very nerve-wracking, and maybe it was silly, but I was pretty upset at the prospect of losing all my game progress. Glad it all seems to have worked out.
I do really wish I knew what the hell went wrong. All I can think is that shortly before the problems, I was on our town’s website and downloaded several pdfs that I was looking at. I have no idea what could have been wrong with them, but it’s all I can think.
Which game are you playing? I used to be addicted to Summoner’s War…then I had kids. I totally get the fear of losing progress.

Yes! We figured that out this morning. I had searched for any Google issues yesterday afternoon but I guess I was looking before the information was really coming out. Oh well, I came out of the factory reset not really worse for wear. Lost a little bit of stuff I didn’t really care about.
its almost 6 am..and im on my first coffee…im having the opposite of deep thoughts
checked the news…spotted denver and figured…oh hey…thats the second mass shooting that made international news in a week
pandemic must be about over then…americas gone back to normal
in fact so back to normal that i should have said boulder…not denver
denver was just the last city i saw mentioned in a comment somewhere and my brain no work so good this time of day
oh…its practically denver….well…hooray for accidental accuracy
(hmmm….probably a poor choice of words for a shooting)
wheres my shovel..i must dig a bigger hole
I hear ya, Farscy, because *my* thought when we had incel-shooter-guy last week was, “I guess we’re starting the countdown to the next mass**-casualty shooting in a high school *somewhere* again, aren’t we?🙃
**mass-casualty shooting, because there have been plenty of cases of teens shooting one or a couple folks all over the place, and there was this over in WI recently.
But so far, other than the threats, nothing that’s actually happened in a school yet…
