Give it a Try [DOT 19/7/20]

It’s pretty hot here, so I think some naps are in order. I’ll do some yoga as well.

How about you, got any exciting plans for this Sunday?

Speaking of rest, RIP good sir.

  1. eurgh….gonna be a day this one…
agatha farscythe and the what the fuck did i do last nite..and where did i leave my bike…and why do i have a gallon or so of weatherproof paint where my beer should be
i have questions…is what im saying
my best lead is i left the bike all the way over on the other side of town….sucky..i also managed to sprain my ankle…walking about aint as much fun as usual today

    • ah….turns out the big gay bear i met last night is actually a mate of mine and he has my bike (he is a big gay bear tho)
he also offered me a bed for the night…but…i decided not to take him up on that and stole his paint…
      lol

        • ahahahaha….theres blood everywhere
i should probably not do this again
          feel fine tho
          maybe its not my blood?
          *shrugs*
anyhoo…farscythe is not the person to ask about ethics

            • I kept waiting for the punch line to this fascinating series of comments; wasn’t expecting blood. How does your face feel? Head wounds do bleed quite a bit. Also, Mrs. Farscythe must be quite open-minded. Hope you are on the mend with the ankle, retrieve your bike, and return the paint.

              • huh? my heads fine….seems to be one of the only bits of me thats not all banged up right now
anyhoo…mrs farscythe is a hardass that thinks im an idiot
but shes not been home for a week now
this is what happens when im left without a responsible adult bossing me about
                ….so shes probably right

              • also….im going to have a bitch of a job getting the house all neat und tidy tomorow so i can pretend ive adulted for a week when the missus comes back
i do make life hard for me
anyhoo..bikes back..paints been returned…aaaaand my ankle will probably remain hurty for the week…but it aint broke or all swole…just hurty…i can live with hurty

  2. Smartest thing that the Feds did regarding the Jays.  The MLB wanted no quarantines while crossing the border.  Feds said, “FUCK THAT” while the province and municipality said MLB is Ok with us.

As a Jays fan, I agree with the Feds.  Buffalo Blue Jays, I guess.

  3. Speaking of CoVID, a coworker on the shift I had transferred to got CoVID.  I figured I would go get tested (no symptoms), but then a team lead was sent home after feeling ill.
I got tested on Friday morning right after work and am now waiting for the test results.  The test hurts, but less than CoVID. It feels like you’re getting water up your nose (a 4 inch swab is jammed deep into your sinuses.) I know they get back to you asap via phone if you test positive.  So far no phone calls.

There was some additional drama because management was shocked we figured out who tested positive (all of us can read the shift roster.)  Without getting into too much detail we had it reinforced yet again that management only gives a shit about production targets and is quite smug about their protocols while the person who is positive is a thin skinned selfish ass based on his reaction to messages.

ETA, just checked my results. Negative. I was asymptomatic, but I had to be sure as I don’t want to get my elderly parents or sister sick.

  4. I love the church sign. They can be so funny. I remember one from  a long time ago. The picture disappeared with an old phone.

Walmart ain’t the only saving place.

The whole anonymous goon squad in Portland is really troubling.
All the right wing idiots that constantly spout off about the constitution and their rights would freak the f out to biblical proportions if the left were to have the same if they were in power.

    • I love a good church sign.
Yes! A fun game I play in my head all the time is “imagine if [Obama or Hillary] did [whatever bonkers shit this admin just pulled]”

      JUST IMAGINE

  5. With coronavirus antibodies fading fast, vaccine hopes fade, too

Disturbing new revelations that permanent immunity to the coronavirus may not be possible have jeopardized vaccine development and reinforced a decision by scientists at UCSF and affiliated laboratories to focus exclusively on treatments.

Several recent studies conducted around the world indicate that the human body does not retain the antibodies that build up during infections, meaning there may be no lasting immunity to COVID-19 after people recover.

Strong antibodies are also crucial in the development of vaccines. So molecular biologists fear the only way left to control the disease may be to treat the symptoms after people are infected to prevent the most debilitating effects, including inflammation, blood clots and death.

“I just don’t see a vaccine coming anytime soon,” said Nevan Krogan, a molecular biologist and director of UCSF’s Quantitative Biosciences Institute, which works in partnership with 100 research laboratories. “People do have antibodies, but the antibodies are waning quickly.” And if antibodies diminish, “then there is a good chance the immunity from a vaccine would wane too.”

The latest bad news came from scientists at King’s College of London, whose study of 90 COVID-19 patients in the United Kingdom found antibody levels peaked three weeks after the onset of symptoms and then dramatically declined. …

  6. better news:

Masks offer more protection against coronavirus than many Americans think

Author: Rong-Gong Lin II, Maura Dolan, Los Angeles Times

SAN FRANCISCO — There’s a common refrain that masks don’t protect you; they protect other people from your own germs, which is especially important to keep unknowingly infected people from spreading the coronavirus.

But now, there’s mounting evidence that masks also protect you.

If you’re unlucky enough to encounter an infectious person, wearing any kind of face covering will reduce the amount of virus that your body will take in.

As it turns out, that’s pretty important. Breathing in a small amount of virus may lead to no disease or far more mild infection. But inhaling a huge volume of virus particles can result in serious disease or death.

That’s the argument Dr. Monica Gandhi, UC San Francisco professor of medicine and medical director of the HIV Clinic at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, is making about why — if you are unlucky to get infected with the virus — masking can still protect you from more severe disease. …

    • Why The Fuck does Fuckerzerg have a hospital with his shitty reptilian name on it? Oh that’s right, he’s rich and needs a way to morality-wash his blood money.

Once I finish my wood working project, he’s near the top of the list to “invest” in it.

      • I’m still mad about this.

fucker has enough money to build and fund over a dozen hospitals if he wants hospitals with his name on them, but he gets to demand a renaming of SFGH, a mere wing or building isn’t enough for his arrogance.
