DS Polls: MLB Divisions

Division Winners

It’s finally here! But who am I to promote opening day? I’ll leave it to good ol’ Bill McNeil [press play]:

Let’s take this time to predict who will win each division. Once the season is over, I will do another poll for the league pennants and WS Champion.

[I will try to find the time for EUFA CL, NHL playoffs, & NBA playoffs as well so stay tuned]

  1. i based all my predictions on which names i liked best….as i dont know anything about baseball

tho…i had to vote for the diamondbacks over the giants…as only one of them makes good bikes….or used to anyway…not sure if diamondback is still in business

and i had to vote for the astros coz it reminded me of a bad joke

so…one tennis player says to another

do you prefer grass or astro turf?

    the other replies

    dunno….ive never smoked astro turf

  2. I follow the White Sox. They are off to a classic start, giving up the lead in the 8th and 9th to lose on opening day. Hip hop hooray, sprots hate me.

  3. Pujols coming back for a year to the Cardinals to be with what is probably his last year along with the last year for Yadi and Waino means that Cardinals better make it to the playoffs.

They won their first game 9-0 and they won a preseason game 29-8, so fingers crossed they don’t fuck it up before playoffs.

  4. The nice thing for me about graduating from high school was I never had to take a science class again nor did I have to feign any interest or understanding of any sprots, except for tennis, which is a passion of the Better Half’s. Since I graduated high school well before 1994 imagine my surprise to learn that there are now American and National Central Leagues. Helpfully wikipedia cleared that all up.

But who gets to be in the World Series? Wouldn’t there now be three league champs? There are still only two teams and one World Series, yes? I tried to read the wikipedia entry on this but it descended into historical arcana and gibberish.

    • There are more playoff spots now. Up until last year there were two “wild card” teams that would have a one game playoff to decide who advanced to the playoffs. This year they have added another playoff team.

      Goes as follows:

      1 seed: Best overall record

2 seed: Second-best record among division winners

3 seed: Third-best division winner record

4-6 seeds: Three best records among non-division winners (in order of record)

The top two seeds will get a bye to the divisional round.
