…seriously…this fucking guy…there just aren’t words…someone once described the contents of a newspaper as “all the news that’s fit to print” & if they’d been right then let’s face it, we’d never have entered the sort of media landscape in which any of old man baby’s bile-&-bullshit contribution would have found a home

…but needless to say, since then he has of course been out there saying some out there shit

…& frankly that just about did it for today…you came pretty close to just an ongoing stream of invective about what a god-awful excuse for a mockery of humanity these mealy-mouthed evaders of responsibility represent as they go about striving even in the face of potential disaster to find ways to improve their circumstances to the detriment of the public good

…but it turns out that I’m actually capable of maintaining multiple simmering cauldrons of ire once I’ve had a cup of coffee or two…so why don’t we skip examining the premise of this little number

study the form, people…that’s a junk bet if ever there was one…if it comes off you’ve got to figure the fix was in…

Economic Pain Will Persist Long After Lockdowns End

…presumably not quite so hard to navigate if you got that task force jump start but who am I to point at an obvious abuse of authority by a man who literally said that he believes his authority to be absolute & was seemingly incapable of the modest intellectual exercise required to grasp how entirely full of shit that made him?

…or if you’ve been sitting on the kind of investment capital that might allow for some substantive profit taking as the markets yo-yo ending with a considerably expanded portfolio when we all come out the other side & quite possibly some expansion of that capital to boot…even an ill wind tends to bring a few folks’ ships in, after all

Knocked Off Track by Coronavirus, Census Announces Delay in 2020 Count

[might seem like a non-sequitur but as was recently pointed out, “we all count” is not the mantra that wins (R) brand seats of power]

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/apr/14/growth-in-surveillance-may-be-hard-to-scale-back-after-coronavirus-pandemic-experts-say

…the problem with having overmatched people in positions of extreme authority at such a beleaguered juncture in our history is that they do tend to give the appearance of needing every possible advantage if they are to find themselves the equal of the demands the times make on them…but holy hell are we not short on examples of why the current alleged administration are some of the last people on earth that deserve to be given the keys to that sort of thing

  1. The Russians like their Soviet Predecessors believed in things that only fit their political narrative. The Sovs fought against genetics for a long fucking time and refused to even deal with DNA (except as bioweapons naturally.) That attitude probably still permeates through Putin’s Russia as many of his gang want to go back to a simpler time when Russia ruled the world (sound familiar?)

SARS-CoV-2 doesn’t fit Putin’s all encompassing aura of “CONTROL.” He imagines himself as a Stalin minus killing millions, but it’s a nation that can barely keep its infrastructure running let alone keep an aircraft carrier from burning dockside or being actually useful (hint, it’s not.)

  2. So the GOP decides to screw over Wisconsin voters by making them vote in person, and gets the same result if they had just let people vote by mail. What a bunch of monsters.

Manny Both-Hanz a couple of days ago wrote about how vapid the Supreme Court conservatives were when they issued a last second ruling upholding the GOP plan. They didn’t have to stick their noses into the Wisconsin election, but they did it anyway.

The GOP is fulfilling what Adam Serwer said: The Cruelty is the Point.

    https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2018/10/the-cruelty-is-the-point/572104/

They want to win, but even if they know they will lose they will do everything in their power to inflict as much pain as possible.

  3. At some point Trump is going to say the quiet part again at one of these briefings, “is it really so bad if the majority that die are people that drag down the economy.” So far this virus has taken down more old, sick, and low income people that are much more likely to be people using social security or other safety net programs. Eliminating these people and being able to blame someone or something else is a dream come true. We like to think they are just incompetent but what if incompetence is the end game? Luckily for us, they can only pull of incompetence when they are not trying and I suspect at some point they will fail at failing.

      • I got my first unemployment supplement payment today, and those’ll be worth more to me anyway. I won’t get the stimulus check for a few months because I haven’t gotten a tax refund the past couple of years, so they don’t have my direct deposit info.

Besides, it’ll cover one month’s payments for my car, my mortgage and – because this is AMURRKA – my health insurance. (And even then I’ll still have to chip in a couple of bucks.)
