This years Avs are one of the youngest and most fun to watch team’s I’ve ever followed. Which of course means they’re not actually on TV barring national games. Which is fine because they’re falling apart and are going to be starting their minor league team for the playoffs. Currently they’re missing 2/3rd of their first, second, and 3rd lines along with their starting goalie and most promising defender.
Rantanen to MacKinnon has been the most fun connection in hockey. The combination of insane speed and insane vision leads to some of the coolest sequences and goals out of nowhere. Watching Mac slice through four defenders to score reminds me of Messi carve up Bilbao. Good thing they’re both broken now and probably never going to skate again.
Cale Makar is the most exciting rookie defenseman I’ve ever seen. He’s fearless and scores like a forward. He tries insane moves and even if he doesn’t quite pull it off all the time its breathtaking to watch. I was at the playoff game where he debuted and blasted the flames, and immediately knew he was going to be amazing. Fortunately for everyone, his torso and/or arm is irreparably damaged and he’ll probably never breath properly again, let alone skate.
Grubauer had been iffy, but was finally starting to round into a good to great goalie capable of stealing games and winning in the playoffs. And now his knees are jelly.
God damn it.
Burn everything.
Only a couple weeks (3/26) to the anniversary…
And two days after the anniversary of the other “incident”
I still think Bertuzzi should have been in jail and suspended for life.
So I know nothing about sprots so I looked that up because I couldn’t tell if that dude was dead or not! I’m thinking you’re correct, given this from wiki:
The combination of the hit, fall, and piling-on had resulted in three fractured neck vertebrae, facial cuts and a concussion.[2] The incident ended Moore’s professional hockey career, and resulted in criminal assault charges against Bertuzzi, and a civil lawsuit against Bertuzzi and the Canucks.
It was also amazingly cowardly. They were mad about a borderline hit, but didn’t retaliate in the next game between the teams because it was on the road. When they finally had a home game, they went through the normal retaliation, and got mad that he didn’t want to fight every period.
But at least the league suspended him the entire lockout season…
here in the sprots world, we call that the ddt:
Really more of a running facebuster.
The Bulldog:
Well the Maple Loafs will still find a way to lose to them if they played the Avs because Maple Loafs (they lost to a zamboni driver a couple of weeks back.)
Manny> I apologise. Apparently I won’t be the first one to complain about the Leafs.
I accept your apology.
LOL. It could be worse. You could root for the Dead Things, er…Red Wings.
The Red Wings will win a cup before the Leafs with Stevie Y at the helm. Unless, of course, the Leafs beat the Lightning tonight…because then it’ll be time to mark my X on Yonge Street for the parade!
