Favorite Easy Treat? [NOT 4/1/21]

Hi friends! Do you have a favorite easy treat? What makes it your favorite?

(Favorite is entirely relative — if your favorite is “that 4 pack of banana muffins the grocery store sells” then that’s awesome! It doesn’t have to be something you make yourself. 🙂

My favorite easy treat is those single-serve brownies you make in a coffee cup in the microwave. Either Duncan Hines or Betty Crocker makes them in a 4-pack which is like $3.89 at the grocery store, but EVEN BETTER is the Aldi version which is like $1.99. Only difference is it doesn’t come with icing, but I don’t care if there’s icing on a brownie or not. Dump brownie mix in cup, add 2 tablespoons of water (~28 grams), stir, microwave 70 seconds, let cool a few minutes, and enjoy. So damn easy.

I found a recipe to make my own brownie in a mug mix today, but that recipe included 3 tbsp butter and 3 tbsp packed brown sugar… and uhhh that is much higher in calories than I want for a quick treat.

  1. Mmmm now I want a brownie sundae… It’s been a while. Maybe I should get these easy mug treats you speak of.

    I almost always have ice cream in the house. Often varying ben and jerrys pints (which I manage to stretch to 4 servings when I’m being good), but lately I’ve been enjoying tillamook’s peanut butter chocolate.

  2. I like salty snacks, nuts and pretzels, not chips so much. But when I’m craving sweet those mug brownies are tasty. I prefer them without icing. I need to start shopping at Aldi.

  3. Yes, mug cakes are awesome. Lindor truffles are good. French vanilla ice cream with maple syrup. The soft baked chocolate chip cookies from Aldi. The tex mex trail mix from Target. Snyder’s butter pretzels.

  4. Favorite easy treats:
    A slice of cake (last night’s craving was the chocolate with mint/chocolate-chip frosting), or the mini 4″ banana-cream or coconut-cream pies at the Grocery store (or the Creme Brule at the *fancy* grocery store!😉)
    Once in a while, vanilla ice cream with (regular “chocolate”) Magic Shell😁

    Salty either ends up being Sour Cream & Onion or BBQ flavored potato chips, with plain Sour Cream to dip ’em in.
    Otherwise the Good Sense brand “Sweet Heat” trail mix, which i add extra nuts to (deluxe mixed, or walnuts, occasionally regular/dry roasted peanuts), and some of the dark chocolate/crispy M&M’s** i stocked up on after Halloween

    (**MANY more nuts & trail-mix pieces, than the M&M’s, ratio-wise!)

  5. And random NON-food “treat” for anyone who has a Verizon “unlimited” plan;
    They have a 6 months free, then $6.99/mo offer out now, for Discovery Plus.

    Annnnd since it covers basically ALL the TV shows/channels I used to watch the most, back when I had the ability to watch cable, I took the option this time! (unlike when it was the free Disney+ offer!🙃)

    The only show I didn’t see in my initial scroll-through on the app was Forged in Fire….
    Turns out THAT one is in there, too–so it pretty much covers 99.999% of the channels & shows i loved to marathon-watch!😉
