Hi friends! Do you have a favorite easy treat? What makes it your favorite?
(Favorite is entirely relative — if your favorite is “that 4 pack of banana muffins the grocery store sells” then that’s awesome! It doesn’t have to be something you make yourself. 🙂
My favorite easy treat is those single-serve brownies you make in a coffee cup in the microwave. Either Duncan Hines or Betty Crocker makes them in a 4-pack which is like $3.89 at the grocery store, but EVEN BETTER is the Aldi version which is like $1.99. Only difference is it doesn’t come with icing, but I don’t care if there’s icing on a brownie or not. Dump brownie mix in cup, add 2 tablespoons of water (~28 grams), stir, microwave 70 seconds, let cool a few minutes, and enjoy. So damn easy.
I found a recipe to make my own brownie in a mug mix today, but that recipe included 3 tbsp butter and 3 tbsp packed brown sugar… and uhhh that is much higher in calories than I want for a quick treat.
Mixed nuts + chocolate chips.
I like to mix peanuts, pretzels, M & M s together.
Mmmm now I want a brownie sundae… It’s been a while. Maybe I should get these easy mug treats you speak of.
I almost always have ice cream in the house. Often varying ben and jerrys pints (which I manage to stretch to 4 servings when I’m being good), but lately I’ve been enjoying tillamook’s peanut butter chocolate.
I have no self-control with ice cream and can’t keep it in the house. I’m impressed with your strength!
It’s actually funny, I crave both salty and sweet things, but I have far more self control with the sweet things. Hand me a family size bag of chips and I’ll be halfway through it before realizing what I’ve done. Meanwhile, even as a child, I was notorious for rationing out my Halloween candy and often making it last until Christmas. I love sweets, but I’m satisfied by smaller amounts.
I’m like that too 😂
In Hawaii you can get chocolate covered Maui potato chips! They are heavenly but definitely made by the devil!
Well, fuck. Guess I’ll have to go back to Hawaii after covid to try these important foods. Shucks. Darn. Such a shame.
I could go the rest of my life without eating ice cream and never miss it. I’ll eat it if I’m out with friends and they want to go get some but it’s just never been my favorite. When my daughter was in HS she worked at Cold stone Creamery and I think I only ate there twice. I end up throwing ice cream out.
*GASP* I’m scandalized that you’ve thrown ice cream out. I love it so much.
It gets old and freezer burned, lol.
😦
I know, everyone thinks I’m weird!
It can!🙃
(I tend to alternate back & forth, between “sweet” and “salt!!!!” cravings-wise, and have had it happen, too!😖😖😖)
Although, it DOESN’T happen, if you put the container in a gallon-sized zip lock (old-fashioned type, NOT the slider-ziplocks!😉)
…
Prolly shouldn’t admit this in public, but…
I just knocked the frost crystals off with a spoon and ate it. First 1/2″ or so was a little weird, but under that it seemed perfectly fine…
I did that once. Some open ice cream got buried and forgotten. I scraped off the freezer burn and ate it. Agreed on the top bit being odd, but the rest was fine.
CHA, DEX, and WIS are my dump stats, but I have a lot of faith in my CON score…
Oh also! I’ve been buying little peanut mochi treats lately, which are wonderful.
Green tea mochi ice cream!!!

Chocolate, any kind, any time.
Just chocolate or truffles something like that?
Any kind, but I am fond of chocolate covered peanuts or chocolate covered cherries.
@Elliecoo There’s a company here that makes chocolate covered bourbon cherries that are so good!

Vanilla ice cream (coconut milk ice cream, for me) & crushed up candy No-No’s (vegan/allergen free m&m’s)
I like salty snacks, nuts and pretzels, not chips so much. But when I’m craving sweet those mug brownies are tasty. I prefer them without icing. I need to start shopping at Aldi.
Oh your salty cravings are so much healthier than my salty cravings. If it wasn’t so awful for my health, I’d eat French fries and/or chips every day. I’ve been getting veggie chips lately, which are decent.
Chips and fries are too greasy, they make me feel a little sick. But I could eat a whole bag of pretzels in one sitting. Like those Extra Salty Splits. So not that healthy, lol.
I got a bag of the Everything Seasoning pretzel thins from Aldi last week. That bag lasted probably an hour the way I hoovered through them!
Omg. Those Extra Salty Splits are LIFE. I try to restrain myself to 4 or so pretzels per snack because otherwise it’s like, your entire WEEKLY salt recommendation in a bag. But they are soooo goooood.
I bought some today. I’m not letting myself open the bag until after I eat some real food for dinner. Because on an empty stomach I will eat them all!
Yeah I’ve bought the brands with icing included before and I don’t really like the icing they include, either. Like why waste the calories on sub-par icing????
Even with home made Brownies I don’t like icing. Brownies don’t need anything else, they’re great on their own.
100% THIS
Yes, mug cakes are awesome. Lindor truffles are good. French vanilla ice cream with maple syrup. The soft baked chocolate chip cookies from Aldi. The tex mex trail mix from Target. Snyder’s butter pretzels.
Snyder’s butter pretzels are delicious!
In the summer it’s ice cream. In the winter it’s the homemade salsa with tortilla chips.
Ooh yeah I can eat salsa and chips til I explode
Oooh, so can I.
This post is making me hungry. I’m going to have a Mozart Kugel, it’s one of my favorite candies. I treated myself to a small box for Christmas.
Tequila, limeade & ice. Repeat as necessary.
I’ll go along with this. And I’d still get my salt!
Favorite easy treats:
A slice of cake (last night’s craving was the chocolate with mint/chocolate-chip frosting), or the mini 4″ banana-cream or coconut-cream pies at the Grocery store (or the Creme Brule at the *fancy* grocery store!😉)
Once in a while, vanilla ice cream with (regular “chocolate”) Magic Shell😁
Salty either ends up being Sour Cream & Onion or BBQ flavored potato chips, with plain Sour Cream to dip ’em in.
Otherwise the Good Sense brand “Sweet Heat” trail mix, which i add extra nuts to (deluxe mixed, or walnuts, occasionally regular/dry roasted peanuts), and some of the dark chocolate/crispy M&M’s** i stocked up on after Halloween
(**MANY more nuts & trail-mix pieces, than the M&M’s, ratio-wise!)
I’m going to the fancy store today. I may have to pick up a creme brule!
And random NON-food “treat” for anyone who has a Verizon “unlimited” plan;
They have a 6 months free, then $6.99/mo offer out now, for Discovery Plus.
Annnnd since it covers basically ALL the TV shows/channels I used to watch the most, back when I had the ability to watch cable, I took the option this time! (unlike when it was the free Disney+ offer!🙃)
The only show I didn’t see in my initial scroll-through on the app was Forged in Fire….
Turns out THAT one is in there, too–so it pretty much covers 99.999% of the channels & shows i loved to marathon-watch!😉
i dont really do sweets…make some pretty good nachos tho…when i can be bothered
most of the time tho…ill just snack on cheese and chorizo
