Food You Can Eat: Berry Sorbet or Granita

This is another no-churn winner, light, flavorful, low in calories, and heart-healthy . . . although it may be best in warm weather, I think that it is good all year-round.

Ingredients:

1 cup SPLENDA® Granular

1 cup water

3 ½ cups frozen berries, thawed

½ cup heavy cream (Optional)

Directions:

Dissolve Splenda in water. In a food processor or blender, puree berries until smooth, adding sweetened water gradually. Pour in cream, and pulse until blended. I prefer a less seedy berry, so blueberries or cherries, but the pictured batch was a berry mix and is fine.

Pour into containers and freeze.

Double the cream for a richer, smoother dessert. Use coconut milk for a vegan option, or no cream/milk for a granita-style result.

  1. I would eat this granita. 😊

  2. Splenda? Yuk. Has it gotten better, because I can taste it in anything, pretty much right away.
