I made these to share with neighbors. I enjoy baking but must watch out for having too many treats around the house, healthy living, yadda, yadda. You won’t find a simpler recipe that gives a lot of bang for the effort.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups (12-ounce package) NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels
- 1 1/4 cups (2 1/2 sticks) butter, sliced
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 6 large eggs
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup chopped nuts of choice
- Grinder salt (so that it is a little bit chunky)
- Powdered sugar
Directions:
Preheat oven to 325° F. Line two 12-cup muffin pans with liners.
Melt chocolate and butter in double boiler, stirring occasionally. Beat sugar and eggs in large mixer bowl on high for about 3 minutes or until mixture falls from beaters in ribbons. With mixer at medium speed, add melted chocolate mixture to egg mixture. Gradually add flour. Stir in nuts. Scoop 1/3 cup batter into each cupcake liner, filling 3/4 full.
Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until toothpick inserted in centers comes out with loose crumbs attached. Cool in pans for 5 minutes; sprinkle with salt and powdered sugar. Remove to wire racks to cool completely.
Thank you for using a recipe that calls for an entire bag of chips. I get irrationally annoyed at recipes that only use part of a bag!
counterpoint: just throw the whole bag in regardless 🙂
Admittedly, that has happened before!
Right? What the heck with the 1 cup stuff in recipes. Like you and Meg, I often just use them all, even if not called for. My neighbor was very happy – he’s a single guy, and basically will eat anything I bake.
Those salt chips will make them even more addictive.
I can’t eat that, but I’ll gladly sit in the kitchen while you make it. For the smells.
Oh holy hell. (I mean that in a good way.)
