Friday Eve! [NOT 5/10/23]

Hi, friends!

I hope your day is going well.

I’m so ready for the weekend. I have no plans, but fuck me I’m looking forward to not working.

Anybody got anything fun planned?

  1. I am traveled out but I have waited 2 years for this weekend so sucking it up.  Traveling to Yakima for the Fresh Hop party on Friday & Festival on Saturday.  My favorite beer weekend of the year!

      • Mostly IPAs & lighter malt beers that showcase the fresh hops.  75% of US hops come from the Yakima valley & they have so many amazing hop flavors that nobody else has.  They keep the best for the local breweries & their friends so it is truly a one of a kind beer weekend.

        • That sounds tremendous. I’d be interested if they do things like sparkling hop water and hop infused ciders too. I would bet there are good opportunities for experiments.

  2. I’m going to an old friend’s immersive theater performance. I’m going in with an empty slate as far as what it’s about. I think even the exact location is a mystery.

  3. No plans except working OT on Canadian Thanksgiving weekend.

Went to my parents after cooling off and things went better. At least mom isn’t claiming she doesn’t need help. I explained again to my parents why people have been calling them and at least I didn’t get the runaround or denial that set me off the last time.

  4. It’s ThanksTaking and for the first time in 5 or 6 years I am not the one cooking. My mom offered for reasons IDK.

I want to know about as much as I wanted to do the cooking again…so thanks, mom!

    • As I get older, more and more my impulse is throw a bunch of tater tots in the oven and order some turkey cheese steaks for delivery.  I haven’t got there yet, but maybe in a few years. Or else just order out for Ethiopean food.

  5. My goal is to be able to breathe again!😉😆💖

So far it’s working–i ended up developing “the bronchitis cough” in the middle of the night last night, and *was* gonna try to go to work today, but ended up winded 5 steps down the hall after locking the apartment door.

So I called in to work & tried to get in with my primary, to get it taken care of (used to get bronchitis so much & often in my teens, that I KNOW the cough by just the *sound* of it, and that I can’t shake it w/o antibiotics once the cough starts).

Turns out I *also* have a rip-roarin’ *ear* infection that i didn’t notice**

So the provider i saw (not my regular one, but someone in her practice!) sent me off with prescriptions for Mucinex & a Z-pack, as well as more Advair.

The Z-pack DID kick in within a couple hours, and it *already* hurts MUCH less to breathe!😁💖🤗

**my eardrum collapsed in my early 20’s, and when the surgeon sewed it back up, it didn’t seal all the way around, so I have a “natural tube” in that ear & it’s only ever hurt once when I get an infection, because I have no “pressure” buildup–and the eardrum had been collapsed so long it dissolved two of my inner-ear bones (I got plastic replacements during that same surgery)–but the scarring means I don’t register much/any pain in there, either if things get infected.

    • My daughter used to get strep infections, but instead of strep throat she had strep ear. There can be some kind of connections between the uppermost respiratory system and the ears which isn’t obvious to laypeople like me.

  6. last time mowing the lawn of the year…i think…thats the plan

also f1…evening race for me…so thats convenient

also plans aside…i managed to be an hour late for work yesterday coz i never realized i overslept….woke up on the hour with my alarm clock…never realizing i’d already slept through 4 alarms

so yeah….it was 20 to 7 by the time i realized the hour i woke up in was not in fact 5 am…but 6

    whoops

luckily im teamlead this week….so i pardoned myself and let it go with a warning

  7. Last weekend was almost entirely rainy, so whatever happens this week will most likely be outside. I have a trial run planned for Saturday morning to kick off the weekend on a healthy note, so I’m hoping to maintain that momentum through the weekend. Definitely have some yard cleanup tasks on my list as well.
