  1. The Pete Carroll thing sucks, some here think it was time for him to go but I’m not so sure we are going to find better & might have just needed to change the defensive coordinators.  The more concerning is everyone (including Alabama) is trying to steal DeBoer from UW.  We need to do everything we can to keep him!

I found the perfect clubhouse for us, Cousin Matty can be our caretaker when we are not there…

It is currently 10 degrees outside & I need to get to the grocery store.  Ugggg!

  2. The Pats elevated Jarod Mayo all the way from inside linebacker coach to head coach.

That seems like a stretch, but I will admit to having no idea what an inside linebacker coach really does.

  3. I did pointe dancing for about 1 year when I was a preteen. We had to do like 2 years of pre-pointe ballet classes, which were basically 8000 variations on relevé style movements to build up all the form muscles.

Then I stopped pointe because it fucking hurt and your toes just bleed in random weird spots. It’s probably different now, but it was the wooden box in the shoe, then a thin pad, then you’d just stuff literal wads of wool (which we had to buy from the dance supply store) in the spots you needed more padding. After class, I’d take my shoes off and find the wool was bloody and my tights were bloody.

Also I had what I later learned was a shitty dance studio, so I presume the majority of people who take pointe classes have better results.

    • My daughter danced ballet for 15 years and also found pointe too painful.  She is basically double-jointed everywhere and I think pointe was too much.  She didn’t just pass the pencil test, her ankles actually arched backwards.

    • My youngest did ballet for many years but luckily her school offered a pointe or no pointe classes so we didn’t let her do pointe.  She did a bunch of other dance styles at the same time, ended up on the dance team and playing volleyball so she developed bunions anyways but it could have been way worst if she did pointe.

    • I should add that I actually saw this movie in a theater. I was on a blind date. Pre-Better Half days. When this portion came up my date said, “I’ll give you a singular sensation.” He was actually a really wonderful, generous, funny guy, but I just wasn’t physically attracted to him.

He met a lot of my friends and visited one at his workplace, a very high-end restaurant, to suss out why I wasn’t more physical with him. My friend (you think I’m obnoxious) said, “Maybe because you’re obese and balding and you’re only 24?” Bitch.

So I had to apologize profusely when he told me this and we moved into friends territory.

    • There are people who recommend taking it out of the package, putting it on a rack in a pan, and letting it sit in the fridge for a few days to dry out.

Which may work, but that’s a huge pain.

    • the supermarket fountain sausages were the final straw for me

you know..the ones where you are happily browning them when you accidentally pierce the skin and it squirts saline an impressive distance across the kitchen as it shrinks down to half its original size….

i get all my meats from a local butcher now…problem solved… not even that much more expensive…. least not for what little meat i cook in a month

      • …it was the shrinking bacon that did it for me…fill a pan & watch it dwindle until you’re not sure there’s enough for a sandwich

…bacon from a decent butcher, on the other hand…pretty much stays the size it was to begin with

…lot more supermarkets (side note: no amount of exposure to the way the US names stores is apparently enough to prevent me walking into something that says it’s a market & being surprised when it isn’t primarily a grocery store & wasting entirely too long looking for a thing they don’t stock instead of going somewhere that would…& then being reminded of the eddie izzard bit about a punchline involving charcoal & a petrol station not working in france) in my neck of the woods than there are good butchers, though

…I dunno where that whole “mustn’t grumble” nonsense started…grumbling seems like the least we could do?

  4. Reading about this made me giggle today;

    https://kstp.com/world/playoff-game-behind-a-peacock-paywall-is-a-new-frontier-in-nfls-embrace-of-streaming/

I have a feeling that’s gonna be the playoff game with the LEAST amount of viewers alllllll year this year!

Thursday night games typically aren’t as much of a draw viewer-wise *anyway*, iirc, because it’s basically a 3-hour game, and ain’t no one got TIME for that, on a work night, unless *their* team is playing…

Put all that behind a Paywall, AND with the game between two *flyover state teams*?

The Chiefs’ fans are gonna watch it on the local NBC affiliate, and even HERE *IN* FLYOVER COUNTY, most folks WON’T spring for a whole darn Peacock subscription, when they can just catch the box scores, knowing any great plays will get rebroadcast as highlights… and those “Elderly 75-year olds” who aren’t tech savvy?

They wouldn’t download Peacock ANYWAY, they’d just tune in to the local Sports Radio station, snd listen like they USED to, over the air, when they were kids!😆😂🤣
