Pesto
I’ve been making my own version for a couple of months now. Pine nuts are expensive so I have been using walnuts as a substitute.

My White Sox are completely in the tank. Another wasted year. Screw baseball.
I am highly suspicious of pesto without pignolia though. I get my pine nuts from nuts.com (and have gotten good ones reasonably on Amazon). I may try black walnuts next time on your recommendation.

I have about 2 dozen small bags of pesto already made. We also get our nuts from nuts.com but an 8 oz bag of pine nuts is $20. We sometimes mix it up with various hard cheeses and pepper flakes. Definitely not traditional.
hmmm…ill have to try making my own… missus developed a pine nut allergy a whiles back…and for some reason the pestos made without pine nut are ridiculously expensive over here

also….pine nuts are a lot cheaper over here..bout $30 for 35oz….which is still spendy compared to most other nuts..bout on par with pistachios
I make non traditional pesto too: arugula, basil, feta, walnuts, chili flakes, olive oil.
I’m excited to see the new USA FIBA team in a few weeks. More parody than usual with even Canada having a roster of almost all NBA players. We are packing up for our trip tomorrow and running in circles. Wife didn’t tell me she had today off so I woke her up early thinking she was late. Still dealing with her dad she is so distracted & this will be a weird week of saying goodbye and trying to enjoy a little Tahoe time.
