The draft happened. Apparently France has some good players

Adam Silver’s previous gig was lead singer of Classix Nouveaux

Per Discogs, “Originally a punk band called X-Ray Spex but in 1979 renamed themselves Classix Nouveaux after singer Poly Styrene was replaced by Sal Solo and radically changed their musical style in the process”. Crazy stuff.

  1. I watched WAY too much of the NBA draft.  While I am happy for LeBron getting to play with his son, they talked too much about it.  I was especially upset that my favorite college player in the draft went to the Celts right before Bronny & they didn’t even show him or breakdown his pick because we had to hype Bronny making it to the Lakers.

Here’s a good clubhouse for us on the bay!  Even has bathroom pics for you fans of that sort of thing…

and for my thrash metal boy…

    • I always love the fans who say “this draft sucks” followed by “let’s flip our pick for something better.”

When the best option at your spot is a guy who shoots 30% 3P and half his highlight reel was taken with an iPhone, all you’re getting in return is expired potato salad.

    • Have you ever been to Tiburon? There are (or there used to be) ferries from SF to Tiburon and Sausalito. So beautiful. So devoid of the social chaos that plagues SF and the East Bay.

As for the Ibiza property, it ticks all the boxes. Price available upon request from the local Sotheby’s branch. 10 Bedrooms. 9 bathrooms. Private peninsula. The pool. The “tiki hut.” The views. Ibiza is now a more-than-slightly down-market party destination (thanks RyanAir and easyJet) but if you had your own private peninsula, stuck to the decent restaurants and stayed far away from the clubs, that would be quite a civilized retreat. Oh, you would also have to pretend you’ve never heard British or Irish English before because you wouldn’t want to engage.

      • I have been there.  My wife is from San Jose but her parents were both from San Francisco.  Her brother used to keep his sailboat in San Francisco so we spent a bunch of time in that area.

      • No fun when it’s “price upon request”. I want to know exactly how far from accessing that lifestyle I am. Is it a 20M vacation home or 200M? I have no idea how near or off the mark that range is. Educated guesses anyone?

        • Oh no. That’s the smart way to do it. You see a listing. You might already have a Sotheby’s International broker. They have your details. You fly over to view the property and complain about its many flaws once the asking price is divulged. You haggle. There might be a lunch of dinner involved. You’re staying in a smart hotel, or better a rented villa, in the area, so you can wait.

Does the property come furnished? Secretly you would love it if it did, because that would save you the expense of moving and furnishing the place, but you would say, “This is ghastly. I will take the property as is but I would expect a substantial discount to take all these things to the town dump.” Because you are exceptionally well-bred and if it came from after the reign of George IV you have no use for it, but that’s your primary residence. For this kind of holiday getaway it doesn’t really matter what the fellow Ibizan expats think so just keep the furnishings and go native. Well, ex-pat native.
