…fuck no [DOT 24/4/20]

…I can’t believe someone has to explain this…I mean, the shit is printed on pretty much every container any kind of disinfectant comes in, after all

https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2020/04/24/disinfectant-injection-coronavirus-trump/

…& since the man is allegedly a germaphobe you’d think he’d have seen his fair share of those labels…so that someone has to explain that to the god-forsaken mess that against all evidence to the contrary we persist in referring to as the president

…that’s a special kind of wrong…but I’ll get back to that later

…it’s up against some competition, to be fair

…now it might seem counter-intuitive at a time like this…& the way things are going in the UK these days maybe the NHS doesn’t seem as enviable to some as maybe it should…but here’s a thing the folks on the right over there don’t like to admit…if it weren’t for a pretty constant influx of immigrants the whole deal with the medical care available at need & at no cost at the point of care would have been permanently consigned to the drawing board…it’s pretty much that simple

Home Alone at the White House: A Sour President, With TV His Constant Companion

…so…to go back to the thing I said I’d get back to…there’s a difference between having something with writing on it in front of your face repeatedly & actually reading it…& there’s a similar difference between reading it & really comprehending it in the sense of it contributing to your understanding of something…like mathematics…which you’d also think a man obsessed with numbers of one sort or another might be expected to grasp

…so I put it to you fine folks that the 45th so-called-apparently-president of the United States of America is in fact an anthropomorphized example of what some people call Searle’s Chinese Room

…& I’ll be honest with you…for my money we long ago passed the threshold for me to feel comfortable saying that I don’t think Dolt45 clears the bar for a claim to meaningful intelligence…he makes these fuckups because he’s just shuffling those tiles about in what passes for his mind dead set on believing that he has his tiny little hands firmly wrapped around the reins of power

…the man is criminally stupid & it is literally killing people

  1. The article on senior voters hints at the issue, but is maybe too hedged, and would benefit from more reporting at the ground level.

The anectdotal evidence I have heard from relatives is that there is disappointment, anger and fear of Trump that can approach volcanic levels. They hear the talk about ending restrictions and sacrificing people as a dagger pointed right at their hearts. This is not the same as other issues.

The reporter would also benefit from not glossing over the facts about this pandemic — it is not ending soon, and any polling analysis needs to think about this as a long term event with many, many more people getting the virus. Seniors are not going to be among the last who are freed from restrictions, and life in senior living places may never again be the social experience it used to be. And they will remember the people who were lost.
