*Gestures Wildly* [DOT 21/9/20]

What a weekend. Here’s a couple of things you might have missed if you were living under a rock, or just taking a break from [ALL OF THIS].

Fuck is correct.

Some doom-mongering.

Hey, how about something fun!?

I would prefer to live under a rock some days, but let’s see what else Monday has in store for us, eh?

Live updates: Sen. Lisa Murkowski says she doesn’t support filling Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s seat before the election

Now say you won’t vote for a replacement til after the election.

The south is about to get cucked:

Tropical Storm Beta brings heavy rains to coastal Texas, Louisiana as it crawls closer to shore

Despite making progress after a difficult summer, most of the US is heading in the wrong direction again as the nation closes in on 200,000 Covid-19 deaths.

Leak reveals $2tn of possibly corrupt US financial activity

Tadej Pogacar became the first Slovenian to win the Tour de France as the famous three-week race ended on the Champs-Elysees in Paris on Sunday.

Same, Patti, Same.

Patti Smith: ‘I feel the unrest of the world in the pit of my stomach’

Do your best today, Deadsplinters!

  1. …it seems like there just aren’t four GOP senators that know what shame is…so their bullshit court appointment train is pulling on down the tracks

…& it isn’t any kind of silver lining…but if it makes the Dems get off their asses & impeach Barr (&/or re-impeach the asshole-in-chief) that would at least be something…particularly if they could time it so that it wouldn’t get a senate vote until the GOP had lost their death grip on that

  2. I read a Monday blog by a gentleman who is a nonprofit leader, activist, and satirical writer. His post today included this (I needed to hear it, maybe you do, too?):

“I know many of you are in despair. We have been for the past four years, and it continues to look hopeless as our society rapidly descends into fascism and chaos. All the work we’ve put in, and the work of so many leaders before us, are being undone before our eyes. But RBG along with John Lewis and other leaders fought until the very end, and we need to honor them by not giving up.” Vu Lee

  3. 200k dead : if these were war casualties, or if a Dem was in charge, you can bet these slack jawed troglodytes would be singing a different tune.

Speaking of Dems, where are the impeachment papers for the dozens of offenses from just the last 6 months?? This laissez faire attitude of “we don’t want to mess with the election”, “what could he do in 6 months” is BULLSHIT.  And now he’s got another SC pick. Way to go dems.
2 trillion: I FUCKING CALLED THIS.  Since day one of this debacle, when the stock market took off, I knew that him being elected was the high sign for these fuckers to steal their balls off.
Side note: I watched “the circus” on Showtime last nite, and a woman from Ny says because of the polarization going on, we may not be out of COVID s grip for years. I’m paraphrasing, but it was a depressingly truthful statement

    • …I try to avoid posting links to reddit threads because they can be full of shit but I saw one that listed a few depressing stats about the FinCEN stuff

…$1.3trillion of those suspicious transactions ran through Deutsche Bank – & we know DJT owes that lot some serious debts

…also…if you take the top three nations where suspicious accounts were based it’s arguably no surprise they’re Russia, the US & the UK…but the distribution is a little surprising

      US (259)
      Russia (212)
      UK (45)

  4. I’m kind of surprised I’m not a drooling poll of anxiety and existenial dread given what’s happening.
I think I’ve finally landed on my approach; instead of going crazy about what might happen, I feel like Democrats need to just change the rules.
Like, in the long run, wouldn’t it make more sense for the Democrats (if they win the Senate) to remove the filibuster, and then for a Democratic President and Congress to finally end lifetime appointments?
If they capped the age of Supreme Court justices at 70, they’d effectively obliterate the entire Conservative side of the Court. Naturally, that could have the effect that a Republican president could pack the courts as well, but, like…shouldn’t Democrats at least try?
I don’t know. Maybe I’m having a galaxy brained moment, but I kinda feel like the answer to the problem is staring everyone in the face and I wish a Democrat of some consequence would just come out and say it.

    • awwww
      oh well
i dont think i get to escape the rona…outbreak in my daughters college city (funilly enough..mostly among students..coz..well…parties..i mean come on…did anyone really think that wouldnt happen?)
also…im a little pissed of at me work… 5 months in (6?) suddenly theres a hand dissinfectant by the front door and a policy for mandated use of it
wich everyone is ignoring because fuck you that might have worked 5 months ago…makes me think someone complained to the union or some shit
