Good Plan [DOT 29/11/20]

If it seems to you guys that I’ve done fuck all for the last 4 days, you would be correct.

Today is Sunday, so time to work up some anxiety for the week to come, since you (I) did fuck all the last 4 days. [shrug emoji]

[By the way, it’s midnight and I’m eating pie, still.]

I love PA’s beefy Lieutenant Governor!

Worthy of a Twitter follow if that’s your jam.

These fuckers.

  1. This isn’t exactly the same, there’s no son colluding with a father, but the Macklowe divorce is a pretty good one:

When Alec Wildenstein left Jocelyn she got $2.8 billion plus $100 million a year. In 1999. That’s $4.4 billion today. Jocelyn is famous for her plastic surgery, which rendered her half-feline:

  2. Start night shift tonight, but no anxiety just irritation.  Anxiety is called dayshift where the chaos, panic and disorganization of managers puts me on edge.  I miss the chill of night shift.
Instead just finished watching Argo (hey, I’m some 5-8 years behind in terms of movies) which I guess is why I’m thankful for Netflix so I can play catch up.  I enjoyed the movie (I liked Ben Afflack’s (sic) The Town better) but it plays with enough history to irk me as it diminishes the role of the Canadians to sidekick when it was really the other way around (CIA was relegated to being sidekicks.)  Also I get the annoyance of Iranians who are still upset about the US role in messing with their nation but that’s not what the movie is about (the CIA/US role in Iranian affairs could be a historic mini series.)
Unfortunately, US mainstream media tends to ignore national failures as I would rather see a movie/documentary about Operation Eagle Claw the doomed mess of a mission to rescue the Iranian Hostages.

    • I know someone who worked with one of the Americans, and I think the biggest inaccuracy of the movie is that once they got out of the embassy, the rest of the time was actually just boring. The movie made everything seem stressful and dangerous, but it was really just sitting around reading old paperbacks. Which wouldn’t have been much of a movie.

    • I went to school with one of the kids of one of the hostages and he came to speak to our school in an assembly one day. He specifically called out how courageous and dangerous what the Canadians did was. It’s shame that American Exceptionalism/movie writing meant that the film had to make them sidekicks.

    • I saw the flames in your first pic, but the video is blocked over here…

Huffpo has a story on the crash tonight, and HOLY HELL DUDE!!!!😳😳😳😲🤯

      AND.HE.WALKED.AWAY!😁😁😁😃🤗
That was fucking AMAZING, and just Wooooowwwwww!

I love, that they’ve pushed, and that the Formula cars now have an actual safety cage/cockpit, that’s as good at protecting drivers, as the Nascar one tends to be.💖

I still can’t believe the car went through the fence like that, and he was able to get out all by himself–that is just SO good, and SO amazingly cool🥳

      • yeah f1 doesnt fuck around when it comes to videos they didnt post themselves….it got taken down quick
but holy shit…what a crash…i was sure he was toast
went out in a glorious carbeque like
        that was fucking nasty
        cannot believe he walked away

        • This one has a shot of what was left of the cockpit after the fire was put out….and MAN, the engineering of that little capsule… just DAYUM, they finally seem to have really gotten things *all* right nowadays.

I love that they’ve gotten the cars able to do the speeds they can nowadays, but even MORE than that, I love that they can now keep the drivers so much safer, too💖

I grew up around dirt-track stock-car racing. The dad of a classmate of mine (our families are now on the 4th generation of friendships😉) raced.

Her uncle/his brother was his mechanic/fabricator/pit crew chief, and she & her sisters & brother all raced at various points, with my cousins doing pit crew for *them.*

I learned before I was even in kindergarten, how important the safety cages were, and how strong they needed to be/were (sometimes the car came back MANGLED, after race weekend!😉), and how much FUN it could be, to see cars go FAST.😁
But I also learned to NEVER hope for wrecks–i like a CLOSE race, but not the ones with the big smash-ups, after *knowing* the folks driving the cars…
I also learned from them how to drive– (slow before a corner & accelerate through it, steer *into* skids & slides–not away–to maintain control as much as possible), and it made me a MUCH safer driver, because I learned when it was *ok* to take risks, and when to NEVER take them behind a wheel.😉
I’ll TOTALLY drive with a lead foot, on a good road, with dry conditions. But because of who I learned from, I’m also 100% comfortable on gravel, and am not afraid to drive in snowy/slick conditions (although if roads are THAT way, i also know it might only be 15-20mph *max*, all the way home, to stay safe!😉)

  4. I can’t decide if this is a good thing or a bad thing. It’s definitely a thing, though:
    https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2020/11/28/1996023/-Rich-Trump-allies-want-a-new-Fox-News-competitor-for-only-one-reason-To-bleed-conservatives-dry

On the one hand, yes, let’s get all the crazies gathered in one place. On the other hand, holy shit, the crazies are all gathered in one place.

Seems like the net effect is to further splinter the bizarrely concocted Trump coalition, which is going to upset the maniacs who are counting on taking it over and running for the White House (Cruz, DeSantis). So that’s good. Plus bilking the idiots out of money is also good, particularly if the crazy uncles and grandmas run out of cash before 2024.

I guess at the end of the day, grifters have to move on to a new scam. Trump is the most “successful” grifter of all time, but his schtick is running dry particularly since Fox News isn’t really playing any more and the actual lunatics are angry at the “self-interest” wing of the Republican Party. Without new fuel, you can’t keep the crazies enraged and donating.

  5. Okay, there’s so much to unpack here:

‘My mind will not change in 6 months’: Trump vows to use ‘125% of my energy’ on hopeless election challenge

    1. Maths. There’s a direct correlation between people who don’t understand percentages and people who can’t count votes.
    2. Energy. Trump’s energy is supposedly a finite store which he can deplete, so he’s really going to squander “125%” of it on bogus court cases?
    3. Golf. If Trump is expending “125%” of his energy on overthrowing the election, when will he find time for golf?
    4. Statistics. “They say it’s statistically impossible” that Trump’s the only Republican who lost. See point 1. Statistics ain’t your thing, Donald.
    5. No more Republicans. “Never be another Republican elected if Trump is allowed to lose.” See point 4. Umm, lots of them were elected, Donald. You just said so
Somedays I think I’ll miss him, like when you stop pounding on your finger with a hammer because the absence of pain is so pleasant. Nah, I won’t.

    • 125% of really fucking lazy is just fucking lazy.  Good thing he is also incompetent.
Nothing a narcissist hates is being ignored.  Being ignored by the “cool” kids drives him nuts.

    • …not to get into the mathematics of impossible numbers but I’d almost say it was worth it to have him put 125% of his own efforts into flogging the dead horse of his electoral ambitions if it meant that there were none left to put into defending himself against the cases being assembled against citizen donald because I would very much like to see those bear considerable fruit

…sadly, though…in his case I think believing that more than 100% effort is an option is largely a function of 0% of that effort being his own…so he just means he expects other people to work overtime on bailing out his tangerine ass like they always have when his mouth writes a check he can’t begin to cash

…& sadder still…I don’t really see an upside to those efforts being allowed to persist…apparently there is no upper limit to how badly he & his want to poison the well when it comes to stuff like public discourse or an informed electorate

  6. Soooo…. I agree that LG Fetterman is awesome, and a really great Twitter follow….

But are you ALSO following Giselle?!?!???

Because SHE is awesome, too–and OMG, the fact that she calls herself “The SLOP*” and RUNS WITH THAT, is just the BEST!😆😂🤣🤣🤣💖

*For folks wondering, SLOP stands for “Second Lady Of Pennsylvania”😉😁🤗

    Her feed is GREAT.

Some of her biggest issues to support are feeding the hungry, and supporting local, small, businesses.

And she’s a formerly undocumented immigrant, so she brings light to those areas, too.

She and John seem like a REALLY great couple, and just some genuinely GOOD people–and they’re BOTH worth a follow😉
