Good Surprises! [NOT 15/4/24]

"Ah, there they are. So what are you ordering for yourself?" By the way, these are hurricane glasses. I think it is illegal to put anything other than tropical drinks and loose change (not at the same time) in a hurricane glass.

Hi, friends!

Happy Monday!

I hope the work week has started okay and isn’t being rough to you.

Have you had any good surprises lately? Like finding out you can get a settlement from some dumb thing (looking at you, Wallyworld and your settlement about meat pricing)? Grabbing a lighter weight jacket and finding cash in the pocket? Your favorite coffee on sale unexpectedly?

I was looking for what’s gotta get used up in my freezer and found a bag of frozen shrimp I forgot I bought a while back. It’s making for really bright and refreshing salads this week!

  1. My son just got about $100 in a class action suit, which surprised me because those are almost always good for nothing more than a 10% off coupon only valid on Tuesdays for purchases between 2:40 and 2:45.

  2. We got $400+ in an Apple settlement recently.  I thought the check was fake at first but was legit.  Something about our IPhones?  We are getting money back on taxes for a change & our financial guy thinks my wife can retire in the next few years.  I told her I will do my part & not live too long.

  3. Lately, I’ve been looking for second hand toys online (Calico Critters and Polly Pocket because they are nostalgic). It’s a hobby of mine for several reasons. They’re often sold in lots which means you get a fun mix of items. I get a false sense of offsetting my carbon footprint by buying used toys. It passes the time when I’m stuck in my kids’ room waiting for them to fall asleep. I came close to making a purchase today. Luckily I didn’t because my husband came home with a box full of Calico Critters from a neighbor who was getting rid of them. 😁 Big satisfying surprise!

    • I have no recollection of Calico Critters, so I went off to the googles. I think those fell into the category of “might look close enough to a dog toy that we’re not getting you them because the dog might destroy it” for my childhood.
