Good surprises? [NOT 15/8/23]

Hi, friends!

Any good surprises lately?

Yesterday and today we had wonderfully cool weather for August. It’s getting hot again later in the week, but a few days’ break was a lovely surprise!

  1. As you might guess, I am not big on surprises, good or bad. But occurances from one of my myriad lists? Dandy!

  2. It’s been cool here too. The temps climb back up this weekend though. And we may, or may not, have some surprise rain on the way. There’s none in the forecast but the sky is very dark.

    • I hope you get good rain if you need it!

      We had a lot of clouds today that make me thing western Illinois will be getting some rain as they coalesced into storms.

      • Looks like it passed over. It would have been nice but at least it’s still cool out.

  3. Today at lunchtime a few blocks from my house I saw a couple of deer running down the sidewalk and then they ducked into someone’s backyard.

  4. Was sitting in a brewery with a friend when a mutual friend of us both just walked in – totally unplanned. Was a delight to get caught up with him.

  5. I’m pretty much in a constant state of surprise.  Every morning when I wake up, it’s like I’m amazed I’m alive.  I did not live a good and wholesome life in my younger years, but I’m trying to make up for it.

  6. i surprise woke up at 4….not a good surprise

    i surprise wake up at the wrong time of night all the time and figure out once im downstairs making coffee that i dont need to be awake yet

    and at 2 or 3 am….thats annoying…but i can go back to bed for more sleeps

    4 i have to stay awake as if i fall asleep again im going to blow through my alarm clock and wake up somewhere around noon with 53 missed calls from hr

    sides from that our weather is likewise getting hot again….but ive had the better part of a month of temps in the high 60s….which is shirt and shorts weather to me…..not looking forward to pushing 90 again come weeks end

    • I always struggle to get my head around how sunrise and sunset works with the seasons there. If I looked things up right, you’re basically at the same latitude as the Southernmost parts of Alaska, and how that goes in the summer and winter is hard for me to get my head around.

      • midsummer 4am till 11pm light

        midwinter…light around 8am dark again by 4pm

        doesnt help that we are in germanies timezone instead of englands one where we should be really….

  7. My wife came home tonight as me & my friends were wrapping up our beer tasting & instead of being annoyed said “can I have a beer?”  She has been enjoying good beer more than usual lately so we ended up having a few.
