Halloween Drinks

Both of these libations are deceptively potent so fair warning.

Cousin Matthew’s Star Wars Cantina Happy Hour Special

This is basically just a modified Blue Hawaiian, but if you omit the traditional pineapple slice and maraschino cherry garnish and add the orange juice, it turns this very strange glowing green color. It becomes less “taste of the tropics” and more “it came from outer space”.

3 parts coconut flavored rum

2 parts pineapple juice

1 part blue curaçao

1 part orange juice (no pulp)

Add ingredients to a large pitcher. Stir until mixed. Refrigerate to chill. Serve in large glasses filled with ice. If you don’t want a large pitcher of this, just pour ingredients directly into large ice-filled glasses and stir, but if you’re like me you’ll—oh, never mind.

Cousin Matthew’s Modified Zombie

This doesn’t look spooky at all. It is derived from the “tiki drink” of the same name. The name might derive from the effect it has on people.

1 part dark rum

1 part white rum

1 part pineapple juice

2 parts orange juice (no pulp)

Same prep as the drink above.

Happy Halloween, everyone, and Happy Birthday Deadsplinter! Here’s to many more.

  1. One of my favorite Halloween drink recipes is:

    1 bottle of wine*
1 plastic orange jack-o-lantern pail, like you would use for trick-or-treating

    1. Empty bottle of wine into pail.
    2. That’s it. That’s the recipe.

    * May substitute whiskey, if desired

  2. So fun and fancy! And a nice change from the apple cider and spice concoctions that are usual. I’m drinking bourbon, straight and chilled. It has been a challenging week…

  3. Well the orange one looks a little more brown IRL than the following image does justice to and tastes exactly like it’s Halloween and you’re ready for winter to be over but the colour thing might mean I got my quantities confused so…if I was sure I was only staring at the one screen right now I might have done better with this “review”:

For the record, I don’t aim to polish off both jugs on my own. I may have got a bit of a head start, though…
