It’s Fat Bear Week! The delightful celebration of ursine heft is brought to us by the good folks at Katmai National Park and Preserve. Voting began on Wednesday, but it’s not too late to get in on the fun.
You can meet all the chonky Brown Bears on the Brooks Falls live cam, watch while sipping a Hibernating Honey Bear.
.
Cheers, Deadsplinters!
I’m thinking a proper bear cocktail would be a gallon of rendered salmon fat and 50 pounds of fermented fruit.
More authentic but not as tasty.
you know i gotta
welp…guess im back to bouncing off the walls
weeeee!
it’s been a long day here, I’m ready to bounce off the walls too.
Imma go ahead and crack a Natty Boh whilst I write about some whisk[e]y. Maybe it will help with the gratuitous swearing.
Help add to or subtract the swearing?
More is better. Or at least more amusing.
I’ve been making an autumn cocktail with maple syrup and mandarin oranges.
Oh! More details, please. I’m assuming there’s bourbon involved.
I think I’m going to go do some of the yard work. I got some plants to plant, but I need to fish around first and see if there are some allium bulbs to thin out from that area first.
But when I come back in? Fuck yeah hard cider. I have a four pack of Brick River’s autumn spice seasonal blend. It’s got nice flavors of cinnamon, nutmeg, and brown sugar that are soft tastes not overpowering the cider.
That sounds good, I’m going to look for that next time I go to the liquor store. Hard Cider is the best on the still warm days of autumn.
I have really been impressed with their ciders. They had a peach one in July that was delightful.
I don’t know if they’re available outside of St Louis area, though. They seem pretty new still.
I do want to go to their restaurant/brewhouse because their entire menu is either gluten-free or can be made gluten-free. I have a few friends with celiac and want to take them because I think it would be so convenient for them!
I have a niece with celiac and it’s so exciting to see the number of gluten free restaurants and bakeries opening. I hope you get to go.
Ooh this looks so yum and I just happen to have bought fresh sage yesterday 😋🥃
I hated sage growing up, my mom probably bought the cheapest herbs and spices. I tried it again a few years ago and love it now.
