Happy Hour [14/5/21]

I need a drink

Want to do your part to fight global climate change? Drink more vodka. Specifically, Air Company Vodka, a sugar-free, carbohydrate-free, gluten-free spirit created from atmospheric carbon.

Unfortunately it’s not available in my area at this time. But now I’ve got a hankering for a Vodka Gimlet.

  • 2 Oz vodka
  • 3/4 Oz freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1/2 Oz simple syrup

Add all ingredients to shaker with ice, shake until well chilled, strain into a cocktail glass. You could garnish with the standard lime wedge. But why not up your cocktail game with a trendy foam, either egg white, or Fee Foam, a vegan alternative?

Are you sipping anything special today, Deadsplinters?

  1. Fluids, ice pops, and Tylenol with codeine. Vax #2 is kicking my ass. Im sure some of my body aches are due to digging and planting yesterday, but my skin and joints hurt and I have a 101.4 fever. Oh boy. Boggs insists on trampling me.

  2. My neighborhood is doing a food festival tonight and tomorrow so I had a delightful mojito as I was leaving the hair salon.

I feel like if there’s street vendors selling mojitos (and other alcohol) right in front of me, that’s the universe encouraging me to have an adult beverage.

It was fucking delicious and I could have drunk them all night long. Alas, I had only the 1 and now I am home.

  3. Friendly reminder that all plain vodka is sugar-free, carbohydrate-free, and gluten-free. Vodka is simply ethanol (distilled from potatoes, or wheat, or grapes, or corn, or whatever) diluted with water, and while ethanol does meet the definition of a carbohydrate as “a biomolecule consisting of carbon (C), hydrogen (H) and oxygen (O) atoms” it is considered a distinct category.Distilling from recaptured carbon is a nice idea but I have a hard time trusting a “tech company” with such a butt website!Anyway, I’ll be drinking a green tea IPA I brewed about a week ago. I accidentally used sweetened tea and it kicked the abv up to around 8%! Wheeee!
