Happy Hour [14/8/20]

You don’t have to drink alone.

Cross promotions are nothing new. Movie and toy tie ins have been a successful marketing strategy since the release of the Shirley Temple doll in the 1930’s. TV shows, fast food, books, and clothing have all used crossovers in advertising. And now Buffalo Wild Wings has collaborated with Buffalo Trace Distillery on a limited edition bourbon – Buffalo Wild Wings Trace.

Whiskey and wings make a great combination, and Buffalo Trace has been mentioned as a nice compliment to the savory snack. Unfortunately it will only be available in Florida, Georgia, Colorado, Nevada, and California. But you can make these wings, from Simply Recipes, using Buffalo Trace or your favorite bourbon. Do you have a killer chicken wing recipe? Share it with us.

and i didnt make a fyce about it…ha..im such a rebel me

(in case anyone cares it was pandan rice with runner beans and tilapia fillets with a tomato based sauce with garlic, onion, mushrooms, olives and a madame jeanette pepper)

  2. I’ve never been a fan of wings–the taste just turns me off.  Also, booze and I had a parting of the ways a long time ago.  However, I do make some killer green chile chicken enchiladas.  Authentic ones are stacked flat, not rolled, and served with a fried egg on top.  Mmmmm.  You know, I think I might make some this weekend.

  3. Yum. I’ll have to file this away for my meatless Fridays.

Sadly the calamari rings have already been bought (mentioned this over on GroupThink) so fried calamari it is for tonight. I’m regretting the wisdom of this because it was supposed to be somewhat cool and overcast all day. Overcast it is but it’s not that cool and the humidity–I’ve been to the American South in the summer. Well, DC and Miami, which are technically in the South but psychologically not, it’s not “Deliverance” country. For some reason I feel like I could tolerate it better there. I don’t remember being this uncomfortable last summer but maybe it was a milder summer? Male menopause, which apparently is a thing? General dissatisfaction with living in plague times?

Luckily calamari is so quick and so easy I won’t be standing over the frying oil for very long. Problem is I don’t want to give any to the dog. I think he’ll be getting a chopped-up small carrot that I have left and can’t think of what to do with it. I like to give him something healthy-ish in his dinner kibble so he kind of eats dinner along with us.

I swear, just a few short years ago, I was a rational human being.
