The 94th Academy Awards will be aired on Monday, March, 27. I’ve seen a grand total of 1 of the nominated films. I don’t know if it’s due to Covid, or the way we watch movies, in general, these days but there doesn’t seem to be any urgency to see them before they’re gone. I’m going to watch as many as I can between now and Oscar night. Here’s a list of which ones are streaming and where. The only one I’ve seen is Encanto which is deserving of a statuette or two.

Help me decide what to watch. Which have you seen, Deadsplinters? Or heard good things about?
ive seen dont look up…and..didnt like it….honestly…it just felt like watching real life currently to me
and ive seent free guy..which was entirely my kinda movie…grab popcorn, turn off brain, enjoy the show….just good fun all round
im surprised ive seen that many nominees….most of the time oscar bait is not my movies
I think I’m gonna watch Nightmare Alley, I usually like Del Toro.
ive been meaning to watch that one….keep forgetting and getting distracted by other shineys
Same, lol.
Free Guy was nominated for an Oscar? I guess that shows how out of things I am.
I agree it was dumb fun, though, especially before they felt like they had to go anywhere with it.
It’s a Visual Effects nom. Not like best pic, but still an achievement.
Not a movie guy. Drinking this very soon:
Cheers!
I’ve seen many of them. None of the animated ones. Parallel Mothers is next on my list and maybe House of Gucci.
Any must sees?
@Hannibal – I get a lot of screeners because of the union I’m in – I haven’t watched many of them but I thought House of Gucci was boring. I liked Dune – but it’s Dune – I’ve read all of the books and seen all of the movies – so nothing really new.
I’ll skip Gucci then. And I’m just not excited about Dune. I’m sure I’ll get around to it eventually.
…I’m guessing that denzel washington/frances mcdormand would be a hell of a combo for macbeth but I haven’t seen that
…I liked don’t look now even if I don’t know if it makes sense to use that word for the reasons farscythe mentioned…& I thought free guy was a lot of fun
…but it turns out I’ve seen basically all the animated ones?
…luca was fine but no big whoop…encanto is a good bit better to my mind…the mitchells vs the machines was better than I thought it was going to be & for me probably sits between those two somewhere…raya & the last dragon might not be everyone’s cup of tea but I liked it a lot…so for me that was up there with encanto as a movie…although if it had songs none of those have stuck in memory?
…some years I’ve seen most/all the stuff nominated for the headline oscars but I think the fact that I’ve barely seen any this time around says a bunch about what kind of escapism I’ve been looking for when I want a movie to watch of late…though the part where I’ve seen the animated stuff probably would have been true anyway…so don’t read too much into that…uh…please?
I heard Luca was only okay. I think I’ll give Raya a chance. Thanks
@Hannibal I love Raya. I actually just watched it again this morning!
