Happy Hour [22/5/20]

You don’t have to drink alone.

While I’ve been self isolating at home other people have found themselves in more interesting surroundings. There was the man who tried to quarantine on Disney’s Discovery Island. The unfortunate guy stuck living out his own version of The Shining in a haunted mining town. And the two lucky pals spending lockdown in a London pub. Given a choice, where would you pick to ride out the inevitable next wave of the pandemic? With your loved ones of course, and no annoying strangers. I’ve given this a lot of thought, and I want to be confined to Battery Park Book Exchange in Asheville, North Carolina.

It has thousands of books, wi fi, cozy sofas, chairs, and in my fantasy its wine bar is fully stocked. Asheville has a good food scene so take out should be plentiful and delicious. Give me your thoughts on the best place to enjoy the global catastrophe.

  1. …I always suck at the top pick thing…but increasingly I think maybe a boat is sounding good?

…these have the advantage of being able to make it inland along rivers & such but also go to sea…so…options?

      • …are you familiar with the phrase “island hopping” by any chance?

…fair point though…& not nearly so many books…which is certainly not the way my current surroundings suggest I roll…so call it wishful thinking, I guess

  2. id ride it out in my very own castle….i am a brodie after all (seriously…my castle is up near inverness)
anyhoo..have my new favourite thing ever

thats gotta be a contender for best band name ever

  3. Beach. I don’t really care about much else. I would kill to be at the beach in a little house eating fresh seafood all the time. Obviously not a Florida beach these days.

    • I will just say, the west coast is the best coast. I’ve been to Florida & other Atlantic beaches, none are close to west. Cannon Beach Oregon is the most incredible beach for walking I have ever seen. Hawaii & French Polynesia are the most amazing for warm, inviting beaches & amazing water temps.
