It wouldn’t be Halloween without watching a horror movie or two. You can’t go wrong with the classics. And these are available for free on YouTube. Included is The House on Haunted Hill, based on the Shirley Jackson novel of the same name.
In honor of its star, Vincent Price, enjoy his New Fashioned cocktail while you watch. But use a real whiskey, a bourbon, or rye. It should be a treat, not a trick.
What are you drinking/watching, Deadsplinters?
Vincent Price appeared on an Alice Cooper album once upon a time.
Ha! I’d forgotten about that, lol.
I’m low on cocktail fixin’s, so it’s probably a glass of beer or wine for me.
I’m getting dangerously low on bourbon. I may as well finish what I have before making a liquor store run.
drinking the usual…..and just finished evil dead army of darkness
it was needed
this is my boomstick!
I love that franchise. I’m going to start the Guillermo del Toro anthology series on Netflix tonight.
i did see that pop up in my recs…i may join you in that endeavour
Let us know what you think about that series. I watched the first two episodes and was not persuaded to watch the rest. I do hear good things about Barbarian.
I’m watching Barbarian Saturday night. I’ve got my holiday weekend viewing planned out. I’m not expecting much from the del Toro but my daughter and I are watching “together” online. We’re both very hard to scare so we’ll have fun ripping on it even if it sucks.
Living my future dream! I hope my kids are into horror and that we can have virtual viewing nights once they leave home.
Halloween is no fun for me without kids around. I like a good scary movie but my wife will just walk away when it gets good or hurt me if she is sitting next to me. I think it’s looking like the scariest thing I will watch is the horrible Lakers start the season 0-5 while I drown my sorrows in margaritas.
Empty nesting is hard. 😢
@Hannibal, just finished the Midnight Club, on your recommendation. It made me cry now and then. I’m now watching all the old Vincent Price black and white movies. Last night’s was the Vampire Bat. These are super nostalgic for me, as they ran regularly on the three television stations available in my childhood. I’ll try to find the original black and white 13 Ghosts as well…good stuff.
@Elliecoo We’re the same age so you probably remember the all night drive ins. They usually has at least one Vincent Price along with the slasher flix. I’m nostalgic about him too.
I’m having Fistful of Bourbon and it’s quite good for the $.
Oh thank goodness! A Lemmy booze recommendation! I am stuck on New Riff.
@elliecoo
I’m meaning to write some more whiskey stuff over the winter. We’ll see how it goes.
I’ll have to put that on my list for the liquor store.
