@myopicprophet needs our help. He built a beautiful bar and stocked it with an assortment of spirits. But being a dedicated beer drinker doesn’t know what to do with them. So he’s asking you, Deadsplinter mixologists, for ideas. Sure, he could use an online cocktail generator, but where’s the fun in that? Using the ingredients listed below what drinks would you recommend he try? Additional mixers or chasers should be vegan of course, or easily converted to vegan. So no isinglass, gelatins, or honey, please. And for God’s sake NO AVOCADOS! [“Editor’s” note: Avocados are welcome]

Ignore the editor, NO AVOCADOS!
Avocado cocktail recipe
No, I haven’t tried it.
But I would.
What did I say? NO!
I heard you.
And I ignored you.
* sigh*
You and everyone else.
I will let you know how awesome I already know it will be.
🤮
After viewing the astounding lists above, I can’t offer any advice but this: give the Wild Turkey to someone you despise.
Wild Turkey was my favorite college bourbon. I also had terrible taste in men back then.
How about a vegan Amaretto Sour?
I’m going to need help with the aquafaba thing…I just cooked chickpeas last weekend.
I’ve never made it but it sounds easy.
welp im no help there either….dedicated beer drinker
really the only cocktail ish thing i ever learnt how to make is something the barkeep called niagra…. its bols blue curacau ,vodka and redbull….its sposed to be a shot of each and a full can of red bull in a large enough glass….. but i prefer free pouring from the bottle so…assume its atleast 2 shots of each and a full can of red bull
its absolutely lethal and turns a wonderful shade of toxic green
after some googling…..i figure its a bastardized version of an irish trashcan
I wouldn’t touch this but myo has promised to try all suggestions provided he can make them vegan. Red Bull uses no animal products but does contain artificial colors which apparently some vegans also pass on. @myopicprophet , What do you say to this one?
i didnt see bols blue in his selection…so if red bull is vegan …id say he still has a get out jail free card if he wants it
I’m sure he can use the blue curaçao he has.
oh whoops…i missed that one
get out of jail card revoked!
I have been caffeine free since Christmas and I’ve never been on the Red Bull train. Also, you’re right about some flavourings. No beaver anus for this guy.
Thanks though!
No caffeine? That’s barbaric.
OMG i just learnt heineken is pro russia!
they’ve stopped exporting their beer to russia
i’ve tasted their export….
…it’s possible to make a passable old fashioned with at least some whiskey/whisky/bourbon/rye that might not pass otherwise but my first thought reading that list was you’ve got until the 25yr old malt runs out to figure out a next step?
…because at most that needs a drop of water in the glass but surely deserves not to be adulterated
…but I’m not too well-versed in the cocktail stakes?
Pour some of that St. Remy into a snifter. Drink it.
Problem solved.
@lemmykilmister that is what I do, on occasion, with the VS. I find XO to be too sweet for more than a sip. I use XO for sangria.
@SplinterRip and @lemmykilmister Are you suggesting myo is overthinking this?
…I don’t feel like I’m in any position to level that particular accusation at anybody
…but in the sense that thinking about putting more than a splash of water in a 20+yr old single malt is a step beyond anything resembling the righteous path…I guess I kinda could be?
LOL
If you had a bottle of Bailey’s, I would recommend a shot with Kahlua and Crown Royal, and then pouring the Bailey’s in by holding the pour nozzle against the side of the glass so it settles at the bottom. It’s called a Duck Fart.
He can’t drink Bailey’s it has cream in it. I thought you’d have a peppermint schnapps rec for him.
I never thought Bailey’s had…you know…real cream in it, considering that it’s not a refrigerated liquor. But TIL.
As far as peppermint schnapps, he should just drink Rumple Minze straight out of the bottle. That was my drink of choice, which is probably why I kept winding up in emergency rooms when I was 17.
Yeah, that’s not much of a recommendation, lol. Drink this, it will put you in the hospital!
Peppermint schnapps is fantastic in hot cocoa though!
As is Fireball if you have that shit and nothing else to do with it except make boozy apple cider cake/cupcakes.
And there are non dairy cocoa mixes so that would work.
Ok it looks like I’m going to be trying a bunch of drinks I don’t want to try…that is fine. In the morning I will come back here to jot down a shopping list.
Fireball is the Devil’s milk. Do not curse your liver with it.

I drink Gin And Tonics or a Whiskey/Ginger if I drink the hard stuff.
FYI, Chivas 12 is really nice.
Gin is the one liquor I cannot drink. Unless it’s disguised in a Long Island Ice Tea.
I don’t deal well with Tequilla.
I like good tequila shots.
tequila usually ends up with me waking up in a holding cell….
its the drink most responsible for me only drinking beer now
Have you tried Hendrick’s? Some people might roll their eyes whilst reading this but, at least to me, it’s the only good gin (that I’ve tried). It’s on the pricey side though.
I haven’t.
…there’s a lot more gins about than there used to be…not exactly fond of hendricks myself but I pretty much only have a use for the stuff in a gin & tonic with a bit of lime
…I would say there’s a bunch called fever tree who make a bunch of different flavours of tonic that make that a very different drink…particularly paired with different gins…in fact I went to a thing in the dim & distant pre-lockdown past that had a gin bar with half a dozen or so gins & as many varieties of tonic & I drank nothing but gin & tonics all night without having the same drink twice?
…not sure I narrowed down what the optimal combo might be…but the one thing I thought to remember was liking an old tom gin…which I thought was useful when I thought it was the brand name…but is, it turns out, more by way of a style…arguably long out of date, at that

…& I have no idea which one it was I tried that was good
I was going to say add a bottle of Campari for Negronis, Boulevardiers and things, but they use gelatin. But Luxardo Bitter Rosso sounds like a reasonable vegan sub.
This is a good tip.
Rum + vodka + blue curacao + lime juice + pineapple juice is delicious.
Rum + blue curacao + Sprite is also delicious and much less work.
Rum punches are also fantastic – light rum + dark rum (or coconut rum if you are a fan) + bitters + orange juice + pineapple juice.
Horchata (with nondairy milk of your choice) + dark rum + cinnamon + nutmeg makes a decent boozy treat.
I find dark rhum to be disgusting and I only bought it to make one of @matthewcrawley ‘s halloween drinks…but I will try this.
Ooh, yes!
Dark and Stormies are great for a refreshing summer drink – dark rum + ginger beer + lime slices.
Betcha you could make a pina colada with coconut cream, pineapple juice, and coconut rum.
Fun fact! Rum never gives me hangovers so it’s my drink of choice.
I’m going to try all of your dark rhum drinks but once I am done, I am sending you what’s left of the bottle…and I am sending you the Wild Turkey along with it!!!!
@myopicprophet that is an impressive bar, and I am going to try these drink recipes. A gimlet is always good, it is just vodka and lime juice.
Gimlets are so refreshing in the summer.
