Happy St. Paddy’s Day! [DOT 17/3/21]

It’s Paddy, not Patty, which is a pet peeve of mine. Not as bad as irregardless, but it only happens once a year.

  1. One of my favorite moments from my corporate life occurred on St. Patrick’s Day. I was trapped in an interminable, useless meeting and one of the people I disliked the most said, kind of à propos of nothing, “And they should be rounded up and put in the paddy wagon.”

I said, quite reasonably, “It was more our fault than theirs. Happy St. Patrick’s Day.” Most people didn’t get the connection but enough did, so much so that this colleague got brought before HR and cautioned.

    Erin go Bragh!

  2. On a personal note, post-foot surgery and today, for St. Patrick’s Day, attached to my wound-vac, I will be visiting my surgeon. I hope that the wound has healed so much that I can be disconnected from this albatross and move on to more traditional gauze/bandaging that I can do myself without the aid of the visiting nurses, who come three times a week. It will be the first time I’ve been out of the apartment in weeks. This inspires me:

  3. First, I want to say that this is an unqualified good thing.  If anyone can get the knuckledraggers to get vaccinated, it’s this asshole.

That being said, I can’t for the life of me figure out what his motive is.  I know it’s not that he suddenly grew a conscience, because he doesn’t have one.  It certainly isn’t because he wants to help the country because he is only ever out for himself.  This whole thing flies in the face of an entire year of him essentially denying that the virus is a problem, so why is he encouraging vaccination now?
