Fire or Ice?

Hey Deadsplintiverians! What team are you on? Team Heat Miser or Team Snow Miser?

Let’s say a Hollywood studio took over your house for a week and offered you airfare and lodging for Florida or Montana, where would you go? What would you do?

As for me, I’d love a massive snow vacation. I never learned downhill skiing, but I like cross country skiing, sledding, outdoor skating, hiking in the snow…. I feel like I get enough summertime heat, but not enough in the way of massive snowfalls.

But I realize that others in the Deadsplinter community live in much colder worlds, and may welcome the chance to spend a week in the winter sitting on a beach under a brilliant sun, or maybe biking among the palm trees and cactus, or sitting on the deck of a cruise ship.

What do you say? Team Heat Miser or Team Snow Miser? And what would you do for R&R?

  1. IDK about FL but I wouldn’t mind setting up a campsite in the middle of nowhere southern AZ or NM for a week or so…or more.

On the other hand, I wouldn’t mind heading up to the territories for a bit as well…if it wasn’t for, well, you know.

  2. Between your two place options, Montana hands down!  As for winter or summer activities, that is tougher.  I love snowboarding, snowshoeing & snowmobiling but hate crowds & lift lines.  I love surfing, paddle boarding, kayaking, biking. & wake surfing too.  My best day surfing was better than my best day snowboarding & less fear of being killed driving home after.  I think I need both seasons now to survive.

  3. Motherfuckers. Mother mother fuckers. Fuck fuck. Fuck!

I’m in New Orleans and we say the cavalcade come through – we think for French President Macron. Super cool.

Then later we saw an SUV escorted by police and found out that Elon Musk was here for a surprise meeting with Macron and I think that SUV might have been him. If I’d known I could have tried to damage the SUV and do my part to help humanity.

  4. im team snow…..and ice….nothing i love more than loads of snow and skating on the lakes….the latter doesnt happen here very often here anymore…and loads of snow has always been rare here

this place either gets arctic and bonedry or too warm for snow and very very wet

at the moment we are in the sweet spot where snow might actually happen…. temps barely getting to the mid thirties day time high 20s night and overcast for the next 2 weeks at least

being gas minded is putting a damper on the fun tho…keeping the house heated to 63f and bundled up…..its not quite the cosey warm house whilst its freezing outside i prefer

  5. Do we need to go *out* into the weather, and do “activities,” or is this simply s “vacation to the place” where we can choose our OWN stuff to do?

Because if it’s just a “Vacation to the place” trip?

Snowy “Big Timber”-style Lodge in the mountains–ideally not too busy, with room service & a good chef, a couple HUGE cozy fireplaces in front of floor-to-ceiling windows–ideally one of those fireplaces’ll have a quiet nook of a loft, overlooking it!😉–to look *out* on the pretty snowy mountains–as I snack on cheese plates, winter-time sweets (Lefse with butter & brown sugar, Rosettes, Christmas cookies & perhaps some fudge), & Lay’s potato chips, and drink Chai/hot cocoa, tea by the mug full, & park my ass for the duration of the daytimes, in an oversized, comfy, armchair (sitting sideways–of course–as one DOES, to get comfy in a *proper* oversized armchair!😉😁🤗), with a couple comfy throw pillows, a cozy blanket, and a STACK of trashy novels to read!😁

That’s basically my version of heaven–cold outside, ALL the Chiz-n-Snacks available to try at any time (both sweet and salty, tbh!), and all the “WARM & CARB-Y” foods a person could ever want at mealtines–hearty soups with a GREAT *crusty* baguette & butter, Cheesy Hashbrowns, Au Gratin potatoes, this, and things like Julia Child’s Coq au Vin & Boeuf bourguingnonon the menu.😉

But NOT crowded with a bunch of annoying tourists–just quiet, with z small group of folks (enough to socialize with, but NOT crawling all over each other😉😁🤗), and PLENTY of time to sit & read in comfortable silence, with *whoever* is hanging out in the lounges by those massive fireplaces & windows–ideally, we’d *also* have the options of some window-seat nooks, in those lofts, too!😉💖

    • *And by “Daytimes,” I mean a “proper” *read-all-day* “daytime,” of approximately 10/11am, until 2-4AM, on the *other* side of the day!😉

sleeping for 6-8 hours, between the reading sessions (that’s why the need for solitude & *MULTIPLE* books!!!😉😁🥰
