This is pretty funny, if only for the contestants who keep missing the answers that are pretty obvious.

  1. Even I know that Dan Snyder is an asshole, but he’s no Jack Kent Cooke, who bought the Chrysler Building, let it fall to ruin, and it fell in bankruptcy after his death in the late 90s. That was actually pretty tough for him to do, since NYC was experiencing one of its biggest commercial real estate booms in history.

Meanwhile, so our crooked Lt. Governor has resigned. So what, you say? In Illinois Governors are led off in handcuffs all the time, and he’s not even the Governor. Ah yes, but New York is special. Due to our Byzantine election laws, it is almost certain that he’ll appear on the primary ballot in August as Kathy Hochul’s LG running mate, even though he’s not running.

She’s got two challengers, one to the left and one to the right, and they have their own LG running mates. The two posts are elected separately, so she may win the primary but have a LG she disagrees with as a running mate in the general. Or, after the Buffalo Billion 2.0 stunt and the sleazily, secretly negotiated, wallet busting budget that was just passed, along with all the “unmarked bills in a pain brown envelope” Super PAC cash she’s hoovered up, voters may decide she’s just a little too Cuomo-esque for their liking, and she’ll lose the primary. Her picking Benjamin to be LG, despite all his well-reported “ethical flaws” (corruption that rises to the level of criminality), and then her staunch defense of him as more ethical flaws piled up, is not a good look. Yesterday was not a good day for Kath the suburban Buffalo girl made good.

Andrew Cuomo may have his revenge yet.

      • I mean, it’s the first play in the playbook for a team owner!

I will say that Snyder might actually be in trouble because you can do all the sexual harassing you want as an owner but if you short a billionaire a nickel they will come for you. Goodell wouldn’t dare do anything like what happened to Donald Sterling in the NBA, but the other owners might not feel the need to defend Snyder quite so much. If he doesn’t have them holding the line for him, the wolves are already at his door on several fronts.

    • The two things I remember about Cooke are how he annexed his neighbor’s property for a driveway, and his young-ish wife was arrested for riding on the hood of a car drunk or some shit like that.  I probably got those both wrong ‘cause it was like 30 years ago.

  2. Follow-up from earlier. This is still disturbing as fuck:

Case of duped Secret Service agents called an alarming agency breach

And, as it turns out, one Secret Service agent (which means “tip of the iceberg”) was investigated for being a MAGA asshole last year, and I somehow missed it:

Secret Service officer under scrutiny over comments on Facebook accusing lawmakers of ‘treason’

So, to sum up, I would argue that the Secret Service is significantly compromised. Right along with police and military, which has already been documented.

    • Also, there’s apparently a British law prohibiting the rebroadcast of footage from Parliament even for satirical purposes, so, if memory serves, Last Week Tonight would replace the footage for airing in the UK with clips of Gilbert reading something like three-star Yelp reviews from restaurants in the Boise area. (I may be wrong about the number of stars in the reviews, but I’m pretty sure that all the other details stand.)

      • It is kind of a ways off the lake, I’m pretty sure I will be dead before the water gets up to his backyard.  If you check out the video you can tell that it is a hike down to the waterline.  It has one of those trams to take your crap down to the boat dock.

        • If you click on on the Flood Factor link it shows how the house is on a plateau but the water will actually reach a portion of the house from behind. It also states a 94% chance of flooding in 15 years and 100% chance in 30 years. Loss of land and potentially road access makes it a risky investment. But I’m not a realtor, cartographer or a climate change scientist. More of a doomsday prepper minus the prepping.

  3. This just in! The third and final season/series of “Derry Girls” just started broadcasting on UK’s Channel 4. Alas, there is no release date for the US. I hope it comes soon: it is hilariously funny and perfectly charming and much more intelligent than most of these kinds of sitcoms. The reviews I read of the first episode promise that it’s still as good as ever. I can’t wait.

  4. i am struggling to compute some missus logix here today

missus and daughter went to england today…and when i came home there was a ten euro bill with a note saying cat food on it on my desk

which..you know…great…ill use it for cat food

but i always buy the cat food with my money when she is here as i figure its part of the food expenses for the family

its a little odd to suddenly get an allowance for cat food when she isnt here

its not like i was going to forget to feed them….i kinda like my fluffy family

    • …huh…that is a little curious…though I’m guessing next time you need cat food when she’s home asking for a tenner might not be a route to a peaceful existence?

…yeah…not sure I can come up with a working hypothetical for that one…but I hope you & the cats (it is cats, plural…right?) enjoy your home alone time

      • yeah…ill buy a couple bags of cat food tomorow, take a picture and whatsapp it to her with a comment i spent the catfood money on drugs and hookers

and yep its plural…the three floofs and me will be having a quiet week of r&r

        cheers mate 🙂
