I’ve spent the last 3 weeks cleaning out my parents house. Mopping, wiping, washing, heaving, etc.
It’s something I have to do if I want to make the place habitable again and I don’t mind doing it.
You know what I hate doing? Lawn/gardening. I realized that I am not a farmer/shrubber/gardener.
I hate cutting the lawn, but I do it because no one else will (not even the guy that my parents paid to maintain their lawn.)
What household work do you like and what do you despise?
Or rant about anything else on your mind (Open Thread/Threat.)
I hate vacuuming. It’s irrational, it doesn’t take any more effort than sweeping or mopping, neither of which bother me to do.
But somehow? Fucking vacuuming, I hate it.
I hated it as a kid. Mom decided that as soon as we became age appropriate that we would start doing the chores. I had to vacuum. It was either that or clean the bathrooms. So my little sisters would laugh at me until they were given the job of cleaning the bathroom(s).
i generally hate chores… not so much the chores themselves…just the knowledge that no matter how good a job i do….im going to have to do it again soonish
same reason i hate shaving really
i firmly believe if i do something properly it should stay done
reality is refusing to accommodate me on that….and i think that is just rude
Yeah if there were only some way to keep things from getting dirty.
Yeah a strong part of why I enjoyed cruises so much was
All the chores got done by paid staff instead of me.
Texas officials are using the phrase “self-rescuing” now to describe some of the youth camps that are evacuating their students know that water has receded.
I guess we have to add that phrase to our fucking bootstraps bingo card.
That’s pretty sick. Like Katrina survivors.
The local official talking about it on the press conference praised how they were self-rescuing and not using government resources and pulling staff away from search and rescue/recovery.
And yeah, of course you appreciate not having to pull people away from other work to shuttle kids out of a camp, but also, it was just laying it on so thick compared to just saying “and good news, with the water levels receding some of the youth camps are evacuating their students now and getting them reuinited with their families.”
