I went through my recently dusted off “Homemade Household Products” pamphlet my mom made for me about 15 years ago to see what I could make with the ingredients I now have in bulk due to the panic-purchasing of laundry detergent and cleaners.
DIY Dish Soap:
- Put 1 tablespoon borax in a bowl
- Add 1 tablespoon grated bar castile soap
- Add 1 3/4 cups boiling water
- Whisk until completely melted
- Allow to cool for 6 hours, stirring occasionally so it doesn’t gel
- Add to a squirt bottle
The Result:
About half of a regular size dish soap bottle that is surprisingly “tough on grease” and “it softens hands as you do dishes” in a way that would render this post an 80’s tv commercial.
Hi there. I think you should do this thing. Music is good for you. Keitel says you should get on it.

I saw this article and was intrigued! I’m gonna poke around my daughter’s room and see if she left her recorders behind.
