Hi, friends!
I got nothing tonight as a prompt. I was going to try to think of something today, but then I got pulled into a 3 hour emergency work meeting that scrambled the entire day’s plans. It was actually a productive meeting, so at least there’s that.
When I was listening to yesterday’s Marketplace, Kai Ryssdal closed by mentioning that whole shitshow a few years ago when Amazon said they wanted to build a second headquarters, and how all these major cities tripped over each other giving away the store to get Amazon to pick them. He mentioned a NYT story (I couldn’t find it but I didn’t bother looking that hard) the other day which was a follow-up on that whole mess. Amazon had promised something like 25,000 jobs. Instead, they are cutting jobs.
Well, what do you know? The massive corporation, with way too much power in everyone’s lives, lied.
Turns out AOC was right and Handsy Andy ex gov was wrong about the NY Amazon.
She kicked off the NY Trump fraud case too:

AOC’s questions years ago helped spark the investigation into Trump’s business. Now, he’s been ordered to pay $355 million.
Gosh, it’s almost like these young kids in politics these days might actually know something compared to the old fuckers.
Anytime I can post this, it is a good day! It is pure musical joy!
Hey, I didn’t get to post this as “Good Surprise” the other night because, for one thing, it seemed like just the opposite at the time: I received an e-mail from my car insurance saying that they were unable to collect my deductible from the party responsible for rear-ending my car last year, which led to a half-sleepless night full off pondering over the least unpleasant way to go about trying to collect it all by my lonesome. But I still had the text message from the other guy’s insurance (which preceded the call telling me that I was eligible to collect it anyway) with the claim number on it, so I called and spoke to someone who said they’d just recently gotten a request for subrogration about a month ago. And after leaving a voice mail with my own insurance (which didn’t return the call), I got an e-mail today saying that my deductible was recovered after all. And not only that, but when I checked my bank account to see if either my credit card payment or the other two tax payments were received . . . I found half a grand extra waiting there for me.
I knew from the start that there was no fucking way I was getting a tax refund this year, but I’ll take this instead, sure.
Congrats, wins are wins in life! Sucks you have to work that hard for something like that though!
