Rip left me in charge (again). Slacker.
Sorry for the lack of 50 links and interspersed ranting. I’ll do my best to try and keep you up to date. I’m sure there’s a lot going on that I’m missing because I am actually super busy at work. Feel free to fill in the blanks below the line.
That’s a 9/11 every day. NBD.
US daily coronavirus deaths reportedly projected to double to 3,000 by June

Gosh, whom do I believe?
“The Trump administration on Monday pushed back against an internal government report, obtained by the New York Times, that predicts the daily coronavirus death toll could nearly double in the United States by early June.”

You go first, Chris.
“Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said Monday that the country needs to reopen, despite separate key coronavirus models forecasting that thousands may die daily in the United States from Covid-19 and that more than 100,000 may die in total.”

Here’s a totally normal thing to do in 2020, apparently.

YouTube recommended this for me, and I am ok with it!
kent state reminds me…its been like at least a month since ive heard about a particularly bad mass shooting in the states… canada had one…i guess to pick up the slack…but remarkably quiet stateside (could be we’ve just stopped reporting on americans getting shot coz day ending y i guess)
#wierdronasideeffects
It’s been noted, actually. It’s tough to have a mass shooting if people aren’t assembling anywhere:
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/coronavirus-first-march-without-school-shooting-since-2002-united-states/
That will be the NRA’s new slogan: Guns don’t kill people, crowds kill people.
lol..i was going to end my comment with something very similar to that slogan…but then i figured i’d be laying it on a bit thick..
first march without a school shooting since 2002…..i dont actually have words for that.. fucking hell
Don’t worry, those guys are just warming up.

Yes. I read another article about that. Seems like the shitballs who beat on their families are getting more blatant, because spouses aren’t going to work and kids aren’t going to school, so nobody is seeing the bruises.
It was amazing to see how quickly Trudeau banned assault weapons & then went out and killed all the NRA excuses in his press conference. “Canadians deserve more than thoughts and prayers,” Trudeau said. “You do not need an AR-15 to take down a deer. These weapons were designed for one purpose and one purpose only: to kill the largest number of people in the shortest amount of time. There is no use and no place for such weapons in Canada.”
I sure wish we had leaders instead of greedy bitches.
“I sure wish we had leaders instead of greedy bitches.”
From your lips to god’s ears.
Thanks, Meg! The article on Kent State is worth reading, and portrays what I remember as a child. CSNY – still so good. And I really hope John Krasinski is as kind and lovely a young man IRL as he appears to be on his show and in interviews.
My aunt was at Kent State that day and it was a formative experience for her. After graduation, her and her boyfriend lived in a VW van and drove around the country. After they got married, she became a social worker and dedicated her life to helping others. She was always the ‘hippy’ aunt; she was the best!
Excellent write-up. If you need something to do next weekend, might I suggest working on your heat tolerance?
The news has been all corona all the time, I almost forgot about the climate crisis!
I like a little variety in my End Times!
So…I guess it’s a win if we live long enough to die of climate change? woot.
I used to hate Blondie, back in the day, but as I’ve gotten older I’ve become less of a jerk, I guess, and I’m OK with them now. Especially her.
