For corporate greed and profits.
Love love love that after a pandemic with everyone and their brother rushing to buy tons and tons of cold and allergy medicine that the FDA is like “whoopsie! Turns out that phenylephrine in pill form actually does fuckall to help with sinus congestion!”
So yeah, Benadryl, Sudafed, Tylenol Sinus, Advil Sinus, various store brand etc, all doing fuckall for hay fever, allergies, colds, flu, COVID, etc etc.
And the FDA was asked back in 2015 to remove it.
But you know, it’s too annoying to restrict access to medication containing pseudoephedrine to be behind a counter and having pharmacists check ID because people can cook meth with it.
So have some ineffective crap instead.
It’s the way I feel about cough syrup. The stuff based on opiates is actually good at cough suppression despite how crappy I feel taking it (the irritability and mild depression is worth not coughing so much and violently till your ribs crack.)
Meth ruins everything.
So Benedryl does help with congestion but can lead to dementia? Why is this stuff still on the shelves?
* doesn’t help
You still don’t need a prescription for extra spicy kimchee. That’ll clear you out.
Ghost pepper clears EVERY passage.
Unrelated to the cough & cold stuff, but *slightly* related to the Meth-y stuff (since I take *some* type of amphetamine for my ADHD!😉)…
We found out today that *we* now need to vacate OUR apartment, because of the water damage that happened on Sunday, after that sprinkler line in the (thankfully vacant!) upstairs corner apartment got hit by the bullets that went *everywhere* when those idiots drove by shooting Sunday evening🙃
On the one hand, it *does* stink a little, because we have to pack up the whole apartment & be moved by Sunday night/Monday morning🥴
BUT, the incredibly lucky part, is that not ONLY do we get the last open apartment in *our* building (so we’re only shifting up one floor & across the building!😁😃🤗), we ALSO have no rent increase for next year (we were supposed to renegotiate the lease this month!), AND for the next few months–until our current apartment is done (new ceilings & floors), we’ll have a 3 bedroom apartment, with a wrap-around balcony, LOTS more room, and even a fireplace, with that upstairs loft/bedroom we can use as a Guest room😁
It’s stressful A.F., needing to be out in 3-4 days!
But I was able to borrow two grocery carts from the store where I work, and I was ALSO able to take today & tomorrow (and Saturday at the store!) Off from both jobs–so I HAVE the time, *and* I was able to go to the U-haul store & get a *bundle* of Book boxes, and all the Small Moving boxes we need to get it all done🥳🥳🥳
So YEP, stressful… BUT not *as* stressful as it COULD have been!💖
Stressful but it sounds like it will pay off. 🙂
@emmerdoesnotrepresentme lots of silver linings there . . . Here’s wishing you a smooth apartment transfer.
It feels SO lucky, NGL!!!
Especially with how things COULD have gone….
And the corner unit is SO pretty, yet cozy!
All three of us are feeling pretty lucky right now!
I hope you enjoy your new pad! What is the view like from the corner balcony?

Evening lights to come later😉
Good luck with the move and the water damage. Our basement had about eight inches of water in it from a massive rainstorm that flooded the street a few nights ago. I was up until 3 am bailing water.
At first our washer, dryer, AC and water heater went out, but it looks like everything is back online but the dryer, which needed replacing anyway. But the cleanup is a pain. Fortunately a lot of stuff was already up on shelves in case of something like this. Other people on the street had cars trashed.
The Blue Jays manager is a minor league manager and the hitting coach is a t-ball hitting coach whilst the Jays have been unable to…idk…do WILD baseball stuff; such as, hitting the fucking baseball.
Impeccable timing to continue the bed-shitting 4 games in a row against the team you need to beat the most.
The Cleveland Blue Jays fucking suck. Best pitching in the majors…can’t hit the ball.
I remember when the decision was made to switch from the thing that does work (pseudoephedrine) to the thing that doesn’t. I’m actually amazed the FDA reversed itself at all considering how long they let the money roll.
BabyHZ has a low grade fever and runny nose. Perfectly timed with back to school week.
Hugs to you and BabyZ. Hope the littlest Z feels better soon. @HammerZeitgeist
Ended up at the Children’s hospital tonight. Just being safe because it was a prolonged high fever and full body shakes. BabyHZ is good to go home with some Tylenol and ibuprofen.
Call me paranoid, but it just seems to me like these Trump appointed lackeys did everything they could to make sure there was a false equivalence trial taking place at the same time as their boy’s to take the heat off him.
None of this would happen without the press forgetting that the GOP is rerunning what Giuliani was manufacturing with Lev Parnas et al in 2019.
They’re literally taking what the drunken hack was being fed by the Russians on the eve of the election and regurgitated it today. And they pretend like they don’t know it.
everything that works is behind a counter here
aspirine and saline solution in various brands thats your lot if you dont have a prescription (well…theres a few more things that dont do much available)
sucks….. courtesy of my past its pretty hard for me to get prescribed anything
double sucks coz cocodamol is pretty much my wonderdrug….cures my headaches and has the wonderful codeine related side effect of supressing the urge to cough or sneeze…so in a roundabout sort of way works for my hayfever too
but you know….opiates…..kind of sets off a red flag and a whole bunch of flares when i ask my doctor/pharmacist for them
