Hang in there. We know you have a bunch on your plate.
We just had a foster dog returned today for the FIFTH time. She has a bit of a weird personality, but nothing worth so many returns, and overall is a low energy, low demand dog.
The latest owners appear to have been the dog owner equivalent of helicopter parents. They dropped off tons and tons of stuff they had bought for her — multiple beds, shampoos, special treats, coats, brushes…. I get the sense they worried themselves to death over everything.
As soon as she was dropped off, she was excited for about 10 minutes, then just lay down on the couch. For all of her supposed separation anxiety, we left her alone for an hour and she didn’t move except to bark for about ten seconds at the guy delivering the mail.
I’m not someone who makes excuses for dogs or feels overly indulgent toward them, but I honestly don’t get what the problem for the adopters was.
That’s really interesting. Do you describe the dog’s personality to potential adopters? For sure there are people out there who want a low energy low maintenance dog.
This pup sounds good for seniors who want a pet.
My wife talks to the applicants and tells them about everything including toenail length. I get the sense this couple would have returned a pet rock.
That’s what I figured. They wanted the “perfect” dog whatever the hell that is.
Poor girl ☹️
That’s terrible.
A pet is a commitment not something you return on a whim, but that’s just me.
Mostly why I want to get a dog, but won’t because my schedule means I won’t be there for the dog.
Dogs are so good at sensing people’s feelings & anxieties. I wouldn’t doubt if she was just reflecting their stress.
Of course you’re sulking. You’re in a very difficult situation. Do what you need to take care of yourself.
I’ve been eating. And just came back from grocery shopping (dropped off food for the parents too.)
I’m also glad I bailed on working this weekend. My mind isn’t in it and I’d fuck up bad. I’m not happy about losing the extra money, but I know that in my state of mind I’d do something terrible so better to stay at home.
Shit, friend, I’m sorry you’re going through crap in your life. Please try to take care of yourself.
