Hi, friends!
I hope your weekend is going well. Mine has been fucking fantastic!
So tonight’s theme is some trend etc that the youths are doing where you’re just not a fan.
For me, I can sort of accept the socks with sandals that the youths are into. Sort of. I still associate socks with sandals with older folks, but whatevs.
HOWEVER. Crew socks with sandals? Why. Why. Why. It does not compute. At all. It looks so janky with shorts. My brain literally cannot fathom the decision logic to go “why yes, I want to look like this.”
I will confess to wearing crocks and socks when I’m walking dogs.
No no, that’s fine. My brain likes the rhyme scheme.
Crocs with socks walking blocks with rocks and tiktoks.
I think fashion right now is “Anything Goes”, and I’m OK with it.
That said, yeah, due to my age and life experiences, I laugh at the young folk wearing high-waisted pants, but that’s because I remember the pleated acid-wash version of those, and not in a good way. I’ve even seen Juncos a time or two in the wild?
The sad part for me is the current incarnation of cargo pants and wide leg pants seems to be a much shittier fabric than when I was a youth rocking them.
And that makes me sad for the youths, they deserve better.
Agreed. Fast fashion is absolute garbage.
Counterpoint, I love Fast Fashion!

I wear crew socks with my Louboutin heels.
Jesus Christ, Luigi. If you just stopped wearing the stilettoes you’d have less blisters and wouldn’t need the socks.
Hey man, sometimes you find the incredible shoes for a really great price when you’re thrifting, but they are that half-a-squidge too big.
Ya gotta do, what ya gotta do, to keep ’em on your feet!
And besides, if you wear the ones that’re allll stretched out & holey?
Folks might take ’em as a brand-new pair of Balenciaga ruffle socks!😉
One thing I sorrily missed is hanging out with friends. I managed to hangout with two different friends this weekend.
Why? Because my OT got borked so I decided that I would hangout with friends instead of begging to join another OT shift. Fuck it.
I’m glad I did it. My bank account is a touch upset, but I’ve had to feed it enough the past decade with OT so it can afford to shut the fuck up for a little while.
My kid, like literally every other kid in his school, has a perm. He asked us to bring him to a salon, which could have cost near 200, and there was no way that was going down. Wife grabbed some hair treatment and he’s happy, which I guess is all that matters. I don’t mind the perm as much as him just following what literally every other kid is doing but I guess that’s part of being a teen.
