Hi, friends!
How do you like to use up leftovers? Repurpose? Eat the same thing over and over?
My mother does not like turkey, so Thanksgiving leftovers were a thing of “what else can I put this in?” There was a Betty Crocker cookbook recipe *the mid 1970s orange edition* for a chicken and rice casserole that she made basically every year a few days after Thanksgiving. I loved this casserole, so as a kid I was more excited about it than the actual Thanksgiving meal.
This is the closest I can find to how I remember it, of course I don’t have the actual cookbook. Pretty sure mom just used 2 cups of milk because who randomly has 1 cup of chicken broth around?

Leftovers are a way of life for us. We (I) make meals specifically to last over the course of a week. No way am I cooking a different goddamned meal every day.
I just made turkey sandwiches with leftover turkey meat, gravy, cranberry sauce and mash potatoes with a dash of mayo.
Once the gravy, cranberry and mash potatoes were gone then so was my interest in leftover turkey which was usually the white meat.
My family is a pro dark meat family and there would be zero left after the meal.
Otherwise I am with BBTM. Leftovers (not white turkey meat) is my life. Don’t have time to make something fresh/different each day.
Dark meat works better for casseroles though.
But completely agree, it’s not what I want to eat on a sandwich.
Turkey and mashed potato croquettes like this are really good once you’re sick of sandwiches.

I was kicking myself for not grabbing some leftover pie today!!
Noooooo
I’m so sorry you didn’t get extra dessert!

thats the song of my leftovers….usually applied to sunday roast….but hey thanksgiving works too……bacon cubes and eggs will even fix turkey
course…i dont have any leftovers here…..the home brigade seriously failed their duties yesterday
seriously….2 people stuck at home all day…and was there a dinner waiting for me?
fuck no said the bonnie clyde
bout 7 ish they decided to order dominos….by then i’d already gotten over being hungry
yeah fuck that….i’d rather starve! (actually dominos isnt so bad here….but a hissy fit was needed)
ANYWAYS
im kinda hungry now
I don’t have too much trouble eating the same thing three, four days in a row. My wife likes more variation, but I’m a creature of habit.
Which is good, because it looks like I’m going to be having turkey for quite some time.
OT: I’m going to attempt to crochet a corner to corner blanket. I plan on having a pixelated Hello Kitty face in the middle. I worry that the color changing will be a hassle to hide as I won’t be carrying the yarn through. Has anyone made a C2C blanket before?
The blanket background pattern is either going to be a solid color or this rainbow pattern…
I’m also wondering if I could use extra large ribbon/tape yarn. Or is that more suited for making sturdier stuff like baskets?
Any Deadsplintercafters have advice?
Fascinating. I had to google it and it seems very straightforward.
I hate crocheting with ribbon yarn, I have issues with consistent stitch size. But also I’m a very mediocre crocheter. So there’s that LOL.
Thanks for the input @brightersideoflife ! I’ve never used ribbon yarn before and I’ve only ever made amigurumi toys. So I don’t know how uniform I’ll be able to keep my stitches. I’ll use chunky blanket yarn instead.
