  6. The USBank story… just ARRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!

    I still bank with my hometown, podunk-nowhere bank which still has only five locations–all back home, within an hour of the tiny town where I grew up.

    I give that preface, because I can tell you that, WHENEVER I cash a paycheck, my bank is able to confirm *WITHIN MINUTES* whether the bank that check is drawing the funds from *legitimately* has that account, and if that account ACTUALLY holds the funds within it.

    So the goddamn EXCUSE that a *much larger* bank, with literally millions/billions more in available funds “needs ____ days to confirm the availability of funds!” is literally BULLSHIT.

    It’s a goddamn excuse/ruse so that those banks can hold & *use* that money–on short-term investments/ whatever, while they hold the monies, rather than immediately releasing it to customers who might use the monies elsewhere (liken food or, in this case, Gas to get home!🤬)

    It’s SUCH goddamn bullshit, and I am SO TIRED of folks getting fucked over left & right, getting charged stupid nickel&dime fees, to relieve them of THEIR OWN MONEY, while big banks *also* are allowed to simply NOT GIVE PEOPLE ACCESS TO *THEIR OWN* MONEY.

    Ffs, when big banks started calling their locations “Stores” & considering themselves “Service Providers” who sold us “financial products” rather than “Branches” like banks *used* to call satellite locations, we should have known we were fucked.🙃

    ETA, like a big damn bank with millions/ billions in profit ayear can’t afford to spot (and possibly lose) TWENTY-TO-FIFTY GODDAMNED DOLLARS to a customer, until a corporate paycheck clears?!??? Ffs, they wouldn’t lose *that much* on fraud in a year, and yould probably be able to bring in TONS of new customers, if they started s decent policy like that.🤔🤔🤔

    • I remember when Check 21 went into effect. I was living hand-to-mouth at the time and sometimes I had to float a check for a couple of days while waiting for some money to come in. Suddenly, the time I thought I had to float that check was no longer there and I asked my bank why the check cleared so quickly (and I got dinged for overdraft). They told me about Check 21 and how it cuts the clearance time. Not even a few weeks later, I had deposited a check and then immediately wrote other checks to pay bills…and my checks bounced because the funds weren’t available. I talk to my bank and ask them what the hell was going on. They said the check I deposited hadn’t crossed the 72 hour mark before those other checks I wrote cleared. I said, “what about Check 21?” Surprise, surprise: turns out when it came to depositing money, I still had to wait (while they used that money for their own purposes), but when I’m writing checks, that shit clears lickety split. Rules are for poors.

I had a comment, but I seem to have lost it… suffice it to say, that bank story burns the HELL out of me, and things like those stupid wait times on funds (which, btw, the tiny bank I’ve been with ALL my life back home *doesn’t* do🤨), irritate me to absolutely NO end–specifically BECAUSE my tiny, podunk bank *can* verify funds same-day, on their *much less technologically advanced* systems… which tells me that those “we NEED three+ days!” banks are lying out their asses, because folks don’t know better.🤨😡🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

    • …found that comment so it should be up where you can see it now…it doesn’t happen often after all myo’s efforts but every so often one gets sucked I to a “pending” zone that everything should skip right past…normally meg spots them real quick but this weekend the b-team is on pending check so I’m afraid I only just checked & found it…sorry about that
