        • I’m not sure if that is true but I share your enthusiasm.  Georgia has already purged so many black voters that some experts believe we have no chance there.  Ohio is trying to do the same…

          Biden needs to find a way to use his new found power to prevent voter purging but states rights and all will probably prevent that.  Kamala at the top of the ticket doesn’t change the main strategy.  They were never going to win a fair election so don’t make it fair and scream bloody murder if you lose all the way to SCOTUS.

          • I think what Kamala does change is the level of enthusiasm among voters of color. I think you’re going to see a surge of voter re-registrations and new registrations. It’s tough to disenfranchise a qualified voter if they know what you’re doing and are ready to resubmit the paperwork.

        • The amount of *stress* relief I felt, as the day went in Sunday, was why I was *cackling* by Sunday night!😉

          Because I knew that she was gonna have *tons* of support.

          I’m embarrassed to say, that with the wildness of the last four years, so much has gone on, that I’d managed to somehow (stupidly!) forget about the K-Hive, the support from her fellow Alpha Kappa Alphas, the folks who absolutely rolled *out* & got folks registered & voting from amongst the student bodies (and alum groups), of the HBCU’s, *and* all the additional folks who were from The Divine Nine, who supported *and* got folks to the polls.

          So much has happened since that summer, that it managed to slip my mind, how *pumped up* so many folks were (still!💖), coming off Beychella, beck in 2018–with Bryonce’s tributes to HBCU culture & history of greatness–*then* everything that was Homecoming, in 2019… so there was *so* much incredibly wonderful pride and *more* celebration when Kamala (a *classic* example of the Culture Alpha Kappa Alpha hs created over the last 100+ years) was picked as Biden’s Veep.

          As soon as I *did* remember though?

          The stress and worry disappeared, because I *knew* Biden had absolutely made the right call by stepping down, *AND* I knew the groundswell will be huge😉😁

          As I said before, Kamala *IS* Trumpty-dumpty’s Kryptonite. His ego *can’t* allow him to be beaten by a Black (and Asian-American!) Woman–he *will* fall back into the same racist diatribes, and he *will* hand her the victory, as he gets increasingly unhinged, erratic, *irrelevant*, and shows *everyone* the miserable, tiny, turd-human that he’s always trying to hide with his braggadoccio.

          He is *so* damn fragile, and it’s going to be *lovely* watching his weak little ego Kermit-flail, then simply break, like a box full of spun glass ornaments thrown off the topof Trump Tower😉

      • The current political speculation on Vance’s nomination as VP was that Trump was utterly confident of beating Biden, with some reason. Since he was certain he was going to win, he didn’t select someone for electability. Vance was chosen to be the Fuhrer-in-waiting, since he’s relatively young and once Trump got into power and shut down elections and democracy in general, he would need some sort of relatively competent heir. Dumb and Dumber do not qualify, and Barron is an unknown quantity at this point.

        I’ve overstated that slightly, but not by very much.

    • …so, I had some friends in the UK asking if donnie-donnie-oxen-frei could “you’re fired” JD or if he’s locked in…& I don’t actually know…but thought they were stuck with each other now the RNC is over…or at least if he doesn’t get it changed this week they blow up whatever nuisance case ohio has prepped to complain about how the dems won’t have an official pick before their current deadline for appearing on the ballot (as I understand it that is/was aug 1st but when sept 1st rolls around their updating of it will come into effect so if the delegates call it for kamala on aug 7th the way I read somewhere is the plan they can file yet more dead-end lawsuits while accusing every other bastard of waging lawfare against them)

      …but I just about laughed myself silly when I read elon had all of a sudden decided to get out in front of that bit of not-new-news all of a sudden…talk about the party of un-honored agreements…if I knew people would call me a business genius if I just said I’d spend tons of cash & then welshed on my debts I could have been claiming to be a lot richer than I am for long enough someone might believe it by now…feels like I missed a trick, there?

          …he’s apologized & “withdrawn” the remarks since…but…that energized base of theirs is looking like it might make kamala into the duracell bunny?

        • A quick Google told me nothing about the rules around replacing Vance. Presumably one person has to stay on the ticket to allow them to keep using funds. But I don’t know how it works after the convention has met and voted.

          That said, Trump is stupid and getting desperate enough to replace Vance. I could see him trying that.

          • The laws may well have changed since the 1970s, but McGovern replaced Thomas Eagleton with Sargent Shriver. I’m sure there’s a problem at some point but I doubt there’s an issue now.

  11. I’d love to see not only a tidal wave of speculation about dumping Vance but Trump too. Both are completely unrealistic, but so were all of the open convention fantasies the press was floating about the Democratic side. As bryanlsplinter kept pointing out, all of the Dem fundraising was locked in to Harris and nontransferrable. There was no other option.

    Even if someone like Whitmer wanted to challenge Harris, which she didn’t, there would be no way for her to fund and staff a campaign this late in the game.

    This article old and stale, it’s from March and talks about TikTok poisoning the well against Joe Biden. But that statistic horrified this Luddite.

    • …it’s not nothing…& clearly a big part of why “tik tok is owned by china” was/is a thing…but they made a lot of hay about how much farage had a better tik tok team than the regular parties so he was getting a lot of traction…& although he may have won his seat (…don’t get me started) basically it turned out tik tok wasn’t converting screen-time to getting votes out in any kind of statistically significant way

      …so…with a bit of luck all the coconut tree/brat montages will make it a kamala advantage anyway but it probably (…like anybody really knows) won’t move any needles enough to notice?
